soaking in water

Hello all, 08 spider ball has been sitting in her water bowel off and on for three days, for 8 to 12 hour periods ,temps and humidity seem to be good. I have checked her for mites and thats not the problem. any suggestions? pls and thx Laddsy

Interesting. Maybe she's about to shed. Does she have a dull blue/grey tone to her?

More info would be helpful... what are you measuring the temps with? What are they reading? Did you recently get the snake? If so, did you pre treat for mites? More info. and pics of the snake and set up are always a good tool to use when seeking advice, someone might notice something that was missed.

no there is no signs of shed, my other normal did it last wk also

85 on hot 79 on cold where watere dish is also had her for 2months and there are no signs of mites checked inder jaw in slit and there was none, my normal also did it last wk too, humidityies are both running at 66%

Could you tell us where and how you are measuring the temps? Digital thermometer with probe, infra-red digital thermometer or analogue thermometers stuck to the back or sides of the enclosure?

Also can you tell us a little about the hides you are using?

digi and infred hot hide is store bought snake hide medium size cold hide is in coconut ecoearth under the water dish.

OK, I would probably recomend changing the temps slightly (90-93f warm end hide and 80-83f cool end hide ).

But the problem with the waterbowl might simply be that being coiled up inside it feels like a more secure hide to her.

Could you try and get a couple of identicle hides that would be really snug on all sides?

It doesn't need to cost much as upside down bowls from dollar stores with doorways cut/ melted into them work quite well.

If you put those in and use a smaller waterbowl she can't fit in she might settle down.

On a side note it is also worth checking around the eyes and in the heat pits for mites as well as in the slit under her jaw. :)

thanks to all who replied to my question but i just figured it out she was constipatedi gave her a warm bath for 20 min then rubed her out. urine calciun then stool and again one more time. thx again for your help guys

I would still follow Dr Del's advice and raise the temps for the snake :)

Oh yeah. Sounds familiar just getting into a tub of nice hot water and then...
