your snake is not stressed out.you should feel good your doing a great job!look at about 3 to 4 in the morning.it will be out around that time if not it might be a dawn snake.i have one that comes out as soon as i turn the lights off and another that wont come out until dawn.is your friends husbandry good?if it is not the ball is prolly trying to get the hell outta there to a more comfortable spot

why?if she is tucked away in the hide that is good!if you go changing things up this can lead to stress, which leads to not eating and cruising the tank vigorously

you should not rearrange it until you get newer stuff.

mine usually come out around 1am or so. BP's are gona spend about 90% of their time hidden, thats just their nature. i you wanted something more active get a corn or a hog.

that light would be a bad thing.they need a light cycle.i use a black light 24 hours a day but they cant see that.you might wanna try a ceramic heat emitter for ambiant temps or a blue moon bulb or black light.that is definatly the reason it never comes out.just turn that light out and see for your self.i bet within a hour its out and about

well poop!ok,first thing you should do is cover all sides of the tank but the front.i use cork bord, its easy to use and cheap at walmart.or you can get a background from a pet store but a lil more expensive.you should also invest in tighter more cosey hides.if you want a idea of a tank i can show you one

    Ditto.

My bedroom in my old place was decked with black lights. I had one 24" light on every wall plus a couple along my bed and ceiling. My dad always told me that I'd go blind because of the UV emissions. I used to have all of the blacklights on for hours and write all over my walls or hang out with friends and I always noticed that after going so long with them on, my eyes would be all funky for a little while.

Infrared heat lamps are perfectly fine. Just make sure you're able to maintain your humidity. These are good for peeping in on your snake too :D

First off I simply think your animal is being normal. I hardly see my ball out and about unless I go to bed late.

That being said I think there are a few things you can do to perhaps increase his activity level. If I were you I would purchase/make additional hides. As someone mentioned earlier cover up the sides of the cage. Also clutter the cage up. Go to the dollar store or walmart and buy a bunch of fake plants just to fill stuff up. All this should add to the snake's feeling of security.

In the end though, as long as your snake is eating and shedding well, you're in good shape.

btw i looked at your pics...youre gonna need a better thermometer...cuz when i first got a BP and didnt know much I had the one you have and theyre very unaccurate...get this one from somewhere > http://www.partshelf.com/acu00891.html

and to heat the tank i suggest getting a UTH (under tank heater) which looks like this > http://www.petco.com/product/6353/Zo...k-Heaters.aspx
    OR
flexwatt heat tape which is way cheaper > http://reptilebasics.com/Flexwatt-He...p-1-c-297.html

and to control it get a thermostat from www.reptilebasics.com like this > http://reptilebasics.com/Ranco-ETC-1...d-p-16172.html

    just suggestions...there are other ways

ight man. ima get it all fixed up. like i said im still new. but ima get it right. i just put a new hide in today for her that is closed all the way around. and she went right in there. i got plants and everything in there. now i gotta focus on the heating and humidity. i want my baby to feel secure.
