What do you think of my new 08 bumblebee?
I have just got my second ball,I know you like to see the pics, so here is a few that the shop sent me. Just wanted to know what your opinions were to his colouring and patterning.I love him to bits, but just wondered if he was a good bumblebee specimen? Do you think he would make a nice breeder in a few years time?

    cheers Scott

He's pretty! Congrats! As for a good breeder, have you asked to see what his parents look like? I would judge the quality of pastels and spiders he can throw on what their quality is (and the selective breeding you do when choosing who to pair him with).

Re: What do you think of my new 08 bumblebee?
Thanks for all the great comments on Lloyd the bee!! The bumblebees vary quite a bit in pattern and colouring so just wanted some expert views on mine. I bought him from a reptile shop in London called Crystal Palace Reptiles, they have a good reputation across the UK. I believe he imports mainly from the U.S from NERD etc. He has some lovely balls for sale. The Enchi fire and Lemon woma pinstripes he has in now look beauties!!

It was a choice between the bee and a super pastel, the head wobble thing nearly stopped me getting the bee, but I love them, so that was it:gj:

Re: What do you think of my new 08 bumblebee?
Well he nailed me on Xmas eve. My fault of course. I had cleaned his cage out the day before, but i could still smell a trace of faeces, he was 3/4 in his exo terra cave with his head out resting on top so I lifted the front of the cave up to see if he had been to the toilet in there...next ...bam, water bowl and cave went flying. He had doubled back and come under the cave and locked on to my finger in a split second. I had fed my norm bp the night before, so must of still had traces of "Rat flavour" on my hands, even though i had washed them several times.

I don't know who was more suprised me or him when he realised that it wasnt a rat, first time i have been bitten ...the feeding response from this little bee is quite strong, and his hunting skills are pretty good..a bit too good!!

No sure I can answer your question correctly, but I came across an article regarding "Wobbles" on spider not sure this is related tho. I cut and paste the article from ralphdavisreptiles.com, someone might correct me if the information I shared is incorrect.

"As of 2005 there have been several occurrences of breeders noticing that some of their Spiders do "weird things".........these weird things include head shaking when nervous or excited, quivering and in the worst case, sever locomotion problems .........I myself have noticed this to some degree in every Spider ball or Spider cross that I have in my own collection. Spiders that I have produced myself, bought or traded for have all done the "wobble". I picked up a 400 gram female Spider from a breeder, she was perfect in every way............a few months went by and she became the worst case of locomotion problems I have ever seen in my collection of Spiders.

Is this something that "comes and goes"?.............another case for me was a pair of Bumble Bees that I got from the same breeder............buth the male and the female had the "wobbles" when they arrived.......they eat and seem to be healthy, but they do "weird things".........

NERD says that he is aware of this and that it is "part of the spider trait".

I love the Spider mutation and think that it makes some of the best combos around.........the problem is the "wobble"............it's not predictable and seems to be able to "pop up" when ever it wants to. This issue could bring down a world of hurt on breeders producing and selling "perfect Spiders" only to have the customer not satisfied later on "if" the Spider were to start with the "weird stuff".........

All we do is out cross the Spider to normal females............the trait couldn't be out crossed anymore...........so out crossing does not seem to be the "fix"...............is there even a "fix"?

I would be crushed to take the time and produce a "Lavender Albino Spider" only to have it eventually do "weird things".......

I place no blame on NERD at all..............I'm just writing down the facts that I know and have experienced with my own Spider balls....as have many others in the biz.

I'd say for now that it is "there" and that there is probably nothing we can do to make it better aside from not breeding Spiders that do "weird things"...........and that will probably be to extreme of a tactic for most.

To date ( 05 ) there is no talk of a Super Spider..........maybe more Spider x Spider breedings is the answer to fixing the problems? ( RDR blurp )"

I don't know if your in America or not, but I got him from a shop in London , uk. They didn't breed him, but i believe they import a lot from NERD, USA etc. I don't know what his full background is,he may of been UK bred. May be members on here can point you in the right direction to a breeder with similar looking bees.

Thanks for all the nice comments eveyone!!!!!!!:D

Thanks for all the top comments!! So high white sides are good then?

Im a sort of noob when it comes to whats good in morph patterns/colours, but the shop in London where i got him has a very good reputation in the herp community for selling nice snakes that are good feeders, so knew he would be a quality snake. Apparantly he is a US import. Does he look like he comes from a certain line/breeder? Or can you only tell with certain morphs like pastels etc, or am i talkin crap?
