Got my present early...

I got my Christmas present early... well I haven't picked him up yet but I've been told about him.

He's a pure bred long-haired mini-daxi... a dapple. His name is Gizmo (that's his registered name and we are keeping it). We are getting him from Enstone Kennels in Mission, BC. Canada. Kelly and I have been friends for 10 years and we have another of her mini-daxis Jenny (age 9) who is also a dapple but short-haired.

I've really really wanted a long-haired and my hubby surprised me with this little guy. We can pick him up on Friday!

So wanna know the most amazing part of this? He was born on my birthday! Yup... August 11th 2008... I turned 45 and he was birthed by his Mama.

I'm so excited... soooo excited.

Here's a pic of Jenny... she's my daughter's dog. One eye is half blue and half brown and the other is brown.

thanks everyone. he'll be fed a raw food diet like my other dogs... so he'll be keeping nice fresh breath!

i'll be taking heaps of pics with my (oh yes she knows what else she's getting for christmas)... my new camera *giggling*... so yup... lots and lots of pics of my new baby. ohhhh i wanna go get him right-this-second!!! :D

i just wanna see him IRL... with all the snow here and where she lives... it may be a little bit before we can get him. i just got off the phone with her and she said that unless we have four-wheel drive (which we don't)... then we wouldn't be able to get to her place.

so... better safe than stuck. we'll get him when the weather clears. *i am patient i am patient i am patient*

Aw, hope you can get him soon. He is definitely a looker. I love his color. I wasn't aware dachshunds came in that color. Now, our friend has a mini dachshund. Are they a breed unto themselves or do they come from standard dachshunds and just happen to be small?

my family has always had daxi but they are all gone now my mother says after the last one went 16years she doesn't want to have to worry about the dog when she is in her 70's.

his parents were both minis. it's just like any other breed of dog that has a smaller version...

*can you tell i know nothing fancy to say... but i have seen his parents and they are small... and all the ones she breeds... are minis*

i am considering a different name for him though... something that means 'gift'... hmmmm any suggestions anyone?

he's been named... "cody"

we picked him up and he's even cuter in real life folks... and he's soooooooooo soft. he loves loves loves having his belly rubbed. he rolls over as soon as you approach him LOL

he loooooves soft toys and is attacking a big red dog stuffy in the kitchen. i took a bunch of pics and will upload them very soon.

i am in total love!!!

ps got him a little black studded collar LOL soooooo cute on him

actually i already meditated on it and asked him last night. he doesn't care.

He's adorable! How's the name Tommy? Because when I tried to think of names to go with Jenny, I just couldn't stop singing '867-5309' by Tommy Tutone. (but that may just be because I'm a big dork. :giggle: )

His first night was good. He slept in till 9am which pleases me greatly. No accidents in the house yet... so this is good. He is, however, spring loaded LOL

And no puppy breath. His breath is just fresh... his gases from the other end though... are NOT! LOL
