spider wobbles
I've been talking to this dude about buying his proven breeder male spider but he says it has the wobbles (spends alot of time on his back) is this a red flag? I am awaiting his price. Any help would be great thanks!

Well if the animal spends a lot of time on his back he is pretty much a train wreck.
There are different degrees and this one seems pretty severe, and it amazes me that this person would even breeds him :O

Re: spider wobbles
I would think that it would depend on how bad he realy is. And if he is realy a proven breeder than obviously he can get around. Even if he is to bad in your opinion for breeding pick him up anyways. Spiders have the best disposition:) and make awesome shoulder/lap buddys especialy on ufc fight night

Re: spider wobbles
I just heard back from him. He'll sell me the breeder male for $175 (again another red flag) or a male and female pair for $400.

Re: spider wobbles
you should pick him up with intentions as a pet, and who knows maybe someday he will make a good breeder, and if not you have a new buddy. Also it is around the holidays and you can find breeders selling pairs alot cheaper than you would normaly see, ask for some references it may be a good deal.:)

Re: spider wobbles
To be honest i would pass, do you have any backround on this animal? Who produced it, current weight, feeding records, etc..... If he doesnt provide this then that + being on his back alot would be enough for me to keep looking. Plenty of breeders even right here on this website have established spider males ready to go home with you for great prices, not to mention the relief knowing where he came from and who to talk to if you have a problem.... Good luck

A spider that spends a lot of time on his back is pretty BAD we are not talking mild spinning here we are talking SEVERE spinning.

since the case is that extreme, I would purchase him as a pet and not breed him. Try to give him a good life. Hopefully if you do not somebody on here will

Re: spider wobbles
I don't know why I'm getting a real sketchy feeling from this guy. He doesn't have any pics (he says they're in his "warehouse") and if I'm really interested he'll provide some.

That alone is reason enough not to buy him! Move on buddy.

many people are window shoppers, and ask breeders to send them photos. Which is understandable obviously wanting to see it before you make the purchase. But xmas is a very busy time of the year so I am sure he realy is just asking if you realy are interested or are you window shopping and wasting his time. Do a board of inquiry check on fauna, he may be a good guy, and he rubbed you the wrong way. Just my two cents

Re: spider wobbles
I have 9 spiders and none of them ever spend time on their back. This sounds like a real bad case of spinning, much worse than wobbling.
The price is too good to be true, the guy doesnt send pics, time to move on. I have never refused a request for a pic and have never had anyone reputable refuse me a pic. If someone cant show you an animal that is not a good sign.
