    Didn't expect this...
Was refilling my spiders water bowl when all of a sudden he lunged at me and bit my thumb. Surprised he actually hit me, he's a bad striker with a horrible wobble...

-Smiles.- We usually don't expect these kinds of things. Great looking spider and nice looking bite.

I was trying not to downsize that, thank you. It does look like a little kiss, though. ^_^

Can't say this is the worst bite I've had. Was taking shed off a friends 2,000+ gram female and she latched right onto my calf. Had my biggest girl with like 1/3 of my hand in her mouth. This one was just a huge shocker because it's HIM. Can't really put it any other way. Kinda like the quiet kid at school screaming his head off.

    Spider bite!

my worst was when i was feeding my adult male.

WARNING - THE FOLLOWING STORY IS FROM A TIME WHEN I WAS EXTREMELY STUPID AND UNEDUCATED IN THE HUSBANDRY OF BALL PYTHONS. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

i held the rat on my stomach before i fed my bp. then i put the rat in a plastic tub i used to use to the snake in. then i picked up the snake to move him into the tub with the rat. BAM! he lunged at my stomach. his tiny teeth went through my t-shirt and one lodged in my stomach. it didn't hurt me, but he did lose a tooth and i felt horrible about it.

That was my first, last, and only bite in 5 years. Some people got to learn the hard way!

    Re: Didn't expect this...
Wash your hand with cold water before manipulating or clean cages or feed :)

Never got bitten since I started doing this. But when you keep a lot of snakes, you better just use gloves and it usually work really good. Or get bitten with bare naked hands :)

At least it was a baby ball, not a GTP, ETB, retic or o ther kinds like that :)

Usually when the quiet ones bite me it's when I'm showing them off to someone right after I've said something like, "this is a really mellow one who is great to handle because he never bites...."

Thankfully that's never happened to me. I've got a four-year-old female who's still never bitten anyone. God help me when I start breeding her. I don't want her to get nippy.

Similar situation happened to me once. Was helping my buddy out at a show and he was talking to some people looking to buy their first ball python. He told them "ball pythons are so tame" and next thing you know I'm reaching in a tub full of baby ball and get nailed about 3 times.

LOL... That's soooo true. I had my 4 foot albino male boa do that. He's the nicest snake I have. One day I'm showing him off and all of a sudden... BAM.

The best one was when I was showing off one of my female ackies and she decided to grab onto my finger and just hang on for some time. There was blood everywhere. I have to say that hurt. Every time I moved she would get harder and harder.

Bites are just part of the fun of keeping these guys. :D

Occasionally I get nailed by one of the kitten snakes (a misnomer as kittens are VISCIOUS!!!) and it is kinda nice, in an "oh yeah, you're a snake" kind of way.

    Nice tag.
