Lost
Well Monday morning is rack cleaning day, so as I was cleaning I got about half way done when I came to my 08 1.0 spider. I have no idea how but he is gone, defintely not in his tub. Obviously its my fault, when I checked on him lastnite I must have not shut his tub properly. I am devastated right now, for he was my favorite snake almost like my best friend. I dont even know what to do with myself right now. I am considering selling all of my snakes off now, because he was what kept my interest everyday. This sucks.:(

Re: Lost
Check any and all warm areas in the house - that's where they head.
My female Rainbow has gotten out a few times - the first time - I was in the same boat as you - then I found her under the computer desk below the CPU box - where the heat was. The next time she got out - I looked there first and sure enough.....
Keep your chin up and go find that snake!
:gj:

Re: Lost
Oh no!! I am sorry!! I hope he comes back to you quickly!!
-
Re: Lost
Man search EVERYWHERE and I hope you find him! :please:
Don't sell the rest of your collection, you will regret it later.
Good Luck!

Re: Lost

Re: Lost
I've read stories about people finding their snake months or even a year later. Don't give up hope man!
You can place flour lines in each doorway so you know which room he's in, set up a heating mat in one room with prey on it, etc. etc. Do some searches and I'm sure you'll find tons of ways to help find him.

Re: Lost
Listen, I thought I'd lost my cat once (mind you, indoor cat). I looked everywhere, cried, put up posters (all this in a few hours' time) & he was hiding behind the TV in the armoire the whole time!
It'll be a bit harder to find this guy, but I'm sure you will. Check all the warm spots. You can also leave some prey lying around (in a box if alive) & that might get his attention.
Don't sell off your collection. You'll kick yourself later when you find your little guy.

Re: Lost
don't sell the lot of them because he has been missing for a a few hours!! there is a lot you can do! I researched quite a bit when I Avy was under the cabinet! a hide with a heat source and some food .... something can be done! don't give up hope!!

Re: Lost
Did you check under the rack? Behind other tubs?
Did you check along the walls behind other objects? Under them? Anywhere they can fit, they will hide.

Re: Lost
I tore the house apart and cant find him anywhere. I feel like I have run out of options. I am still going to sell off my collection, even if I do find him. I just feel like I am losing interest in breeding them, and this is only my first year. IT kind of sucks though because I have worked my butt off to get where I am with them. I even have a few gravid females right now, so whoever buys them is realy making out. :cens0r::tricho::worry: God I am pissed

Re: Lost
Since you're losing interest then it is wise to cut your losses.
You have not looked everywhere because you have not found the snake yet ;)

Re: Lost
I know it's depressing, but don't do anything rash!
My normal Male (my very first ball) used to escape every once in awhile. I found him under the fridge once....all the other times he was in the dog's water bowl -sleeping.
Check the warm spots in your house...I'm sure he'll turn up when you least expect it!

Re: Lost
Search each part of the house room by room if you don't find them in there close the door and make sure there's no way a snake can get in or out. Remeber snakes can climb and are good at it. So don't only look at the lower part of the room look up like on cabinents up in closets and etc. Don't lose your cool just slowly look for him. Selling everything you have if you're upset by a thing that is as little is kinda childish. Go look for him take your time in each room too.

Re: Lost
I hate to jump in and start giving advise being the new guy and all. But do not give up hope on him just yet.
Years ago, before my wife and I met. My wife had a red tail escape.
Same deal she didn't get it closed all the way (hey it happens). Well she looked and looked and looked. several months later she came home from work found her coming down a large hanging plant that hung from one of the duct work vents. It was no longer winter so the heat was turned off, and the AC turned back on.
He will turn up.

Re: Lost
My son's kingsnake got out and turned up almost a year later, hungry but healthy.

We lost one of our Cats too.. LMAO come to find out, she ran in my daughter's closet and hid in there for about 8 hours.. I was so scared... While looking for her I noticed a small hole cut in the wall to fit some pipes that she could fit into... I thought she squeezed in there and got stuck in the walls....
All in all happy to hear you found your little guy... If mine ever got out, I am almost 100% sure I wont get her back Alive... for fear that one of the 2 cats (or both) will stress her to death..

Re: Lost
Congrats on finding him, bud. I had that happen once. Of course, I've done some pretty stupid things, like fall asleep with my female curled up next to me. Luckily, I woke up with her tongue in my nose.

That has got to be one of the greatest ideas I have ever heard. I would not think to do that but man it just makes sense.

My friend BP escape and he found it back at the Rat tanks after one week. Thus, don't give up, wish you found it back ASAP.

Opps ~ You have found him ~ Thanks god

Re: Lost
Woohoo! Congrats for finding the little fella. :D
I once had something similar, I came down in the morning and saw that I had left the tank of my spider male wiiiide open over night. I was in shock, because my house has plenty of places to hide and I own 3 cats. I was just about to start tearing the house apart, but first checked his hide. And sure enough, this lazy bastard didn't move all night. Boy, was I lucky :D

Re: Lost
I have had numerous escapes over the years. My first snake Harley a norml corn got away 2 days after I got him. He wasnt big only 2ft max so he could squeeze into anything. Thats how he got out. I had a cord running into his cage for his hot rock (which was before it was proven hot rocks are bad news). He got through the little hole the cord was coming through. I was in a very messy crowded basement so searching was like looking for a needle in a haystack. I searched what I could, no luck. He came back on his own a few days later. I found him crawling across the rim of his cage lid. I also fell asleep with him once. His cage is right by my bed and thats where he went.
This last spring I bought a bag of ch bps. They were all in a big tank together for the first while as I was building them a rack so they could be seperated. They manged to lift the lid off, had to be a combined effort. They were all out! 11 small baby bps. I knew they were out the second I got home since I was greeted by one. Once agian my reptiles are kept in the basement along with all the storage. So the hunt is on for the remaining 10. I found a few immidiately, I find baby bps are very curious and always on the move and love to climb. All but one were found in high areas, so when one of bps escapes the first place I look is up. Unlike cornsnakes that find a spot and hide forever. My female corn got out once, came out on her own a month later and was crawling across my shelves with my tanks.
I also had my big female bp get out once, man she is strong. Popped her latching lid right off. She was on the top if the boxes of storage trying to reach the rafters.
Then my most recent escapee, my spider! He had gone on a little trip to the mall to see santa,(it was pet day, photos with santa) It is cold here so I had him in a cooler bag with heat packs and blankets to stay warm, and he was in a zip up pillowcase inside that. Well i got home and had to attend to someting b4 I could put him back in his bin, but I didnt want him to get to warm in the cooler bag so I opened it knowing he was in a zipped up pillowcase which until now always contained my snakes no prob. Now I take no chances, I tie a knot in the bag.Well he busted open the zipper and got out. He was out for 6 days, and I searched everywhere. Hes not a small snake either so not as many places to hide. well he showed up, he was crawling all around my females tub, who I am trying to breed with him. Guess he has the same idea.
