Pied
I'm talking to someone who wants to sell a 5 month old male pied for $1500. Sounds kinda high to me, I'd like some opinions thanks.

Pieds are generally priced according to the amount of white. That is not a high price at all. I remember not too long ago they were many thousands of $

Re: Pied
Well I don't live in USA but I would say that sounds pretty much right on the money...

Re: Pied
Pieds were going for $1500 at the NARBC show a month ago...so that's a good price...

Re: Pied
anyone know what you would get if you bred a pied with a pinstripe? This pied does have alot of white

All of the offspring would be het for Pied (normal looking but they have the gene for piebald) and in addition each egg would have a 50% chance of producing Pinstripes.
So in an ideal world you would get 50% normal looking het pieds and 50% pinstripe het pieds.

Re: Pied
1500 is a good price, most start there and go up in price.
-
Re: Pied
That's a decent price for a well started one. They can be found cheaper if your willing to look and are not afraid to make people an offer, but $1500 is definitely not out of line.
-
Re: Pied
I wish they'd be that cheap over here in Germany... with the current exchange rates '08 pieds are $3000.
-
Re: Pied
That pie looks pretty high white to me. I’d say do it!

Re: Pied
I'd be careful though... I've seen that same pied picture like 20 times in the past month with a lot of different listings that were removed by Craigslist... I'd just be very wary of this person... I mean if you are willing to buy a $1500 pied you might as well get it from a reputable breeder!
-
Re: Pied
they generally range from 1400-2300ish? as it was said, it usually depends on the amount of white. 1500 is on the low end of that price range for pieds...i would go for it

Something to think about.

QFT, $1500 for a pied is pretty standard.

Re: Pied
Koolaid how old's your mojave? I've got a pinny that I'd eventualy love to breed (Jigsaw) I'm in sterling.
-
Re: Pied
A baby!... born about a month ago... I got him from Amir at the Chantilly show... His mojave was by far the most gorgeous one he had (he said so too!) maybe next year ;)
I'm breeding my two het. pieds this year and will be my only pair :(

I agree. But please go see the snake first and make sure it's healthy and pest free. Ask about the bloodlines too- who did he get it from? It's worth doing some digging when you're forking over $1500 for a snake!

Re: Pied
Don't take this the wrong way but I smell a scam I've seen that picture in various places. Now I don't have any highly priced designer morphs but if I was to spend lots of money like that I'd make SURE it was from a breeder that has alot to lose if a bad deal or scam was to take place. Of the top of my head I can say at least a dozen breeders who I'm 99.9% sure would NOT scam you. Many of which are listed as advertisers on this site, I can also list at least 7 sites which are shady, not that I'm going to list anything but I'm just saying be careful.

Re: Pied
no $#!T thats where I got my pinny from, bought it from Brian @ BHB, he helped me pick her out. Well I was reading a post about mojave X pinny = jigsaw, really impressive snake. My wife says I cant have any more, but I'm working on it. I don't know what the Moj's are going for but I'm most definitely picking up a pastel, spider, or cinny or hell maybe all three and get a divorce :rolleye2:

Re: Pied
I hear ya!... They are about the same price a pin runs for. Maybe even less... I got mine pretty cheap (I need a digi camera for xmas so I can take pics of my beauties)! I'm currently selling a 50" plasma HDTV (or in reality...trading) it for BP's! It's never been opened or anything... I'm addicted... what can you say!?
-
Re: Pied
what are you looking to pickup. I'll trade you a 0.1 Homo Sapien 3 years old very healthy eating thawed chicken nuggets for your mojave
-
Re: Pied
I was looking for a pied or a breeder ghost female for my spider so I can make some honey bees next year... or maybe a nice breeder pair of cinny pastels or mojaves... something that equals up to a grand :D
-
Re: Pied
sorry but I don't want to wait 20 years for that animal to get to breeder size
-
Re: Pied
so you've got breeding experience? I'll have to keep in touch then, I've finally become what I would say is a compentant snake owner. Breeding will be my next conquest, I hope I can pick your brain. Good Night
-
Re: Pied
Yup yup... I need to buy/make a new incubator though because mine is broken!!! night night!

If you are buying a pied and intend to eventually breed it remember that a high-white animal can produce low-white babies, and vice-versa.
I guess it depends if you are buying for looks, or strictly for genetics. If I ever get a pied I know I'd rather buy a low-white for cheaper, but that's just me.
-
Re: Pied
No I'm not buying a pied, the person flaked out and I could get a cinny, spider and mojave for that price. No what I was saying is that I'd love to breed my pinny with koolaids mojave the jigsaw is an awesome looking snake
-
Re: Pied
Yeah my mojave is sexy! :gj:
-
Re: Pied
I'm so P.O cause the same day I bought my pinny I could have bought an adult male pastel proven breeder for 200 and my old lady's since deleted his emails.
