That is a good for it...but...you could build 2 or 3 that size for the same amount of money, just a thought.

Yup, but there's something to be said about the quality of metal racks...

true but I feel if you build your wooden rack correctly it could easily last a lifetime or close to it with some small repairs

yes but metal would need nothing except for watering fixes.
while i do have the means to make these i want to get one and i can just copy it from there and add to it at will.

    got welder will travel!

The only thing I dont like about them is the food hoppers are in the back, which makes it a pain in the butt if the back is against a wall.

I do however love the FB holding racks to keep all the weaned ones for future feeders and holdbacks.

Make the best offer you can for both, you never know. He might want them out badly enough to take you up on it. I like the metal FB pro racks. They are sturdy, easier to clean and move, lighter weight than a similar wood rack. I had wooden racks, which worked very well, although I always wanted one of those.

I understand it may be cheaper, but we just built another rat rack recently, and there is quite a difference in the quality between the wooden racks at this stage in the game.

The older rack, when we first built it, the tubs were hard to pull in and out (being nice and tight fitting), over time the rails have sagged, the rack sways a bit now back and forth, and honestly, it stinks like rats. Metal racks wouldn't have those problems.

I thought about asking Chris to build me a metal rat rack and I would love to have one; it's much much much cheaper to build your own metal rack for any creature if you have the skills and tools needed to do it. But also finding a freedom breeder at that price is a steal!

I'd say go for it. If you're at the point where you need to have a good amount of production rat wise something like that would be ideal! I just got my first wooden rat rack and while I think it's probably one of the best thing I've ever bought (well traded a few surplus snakes for) I'm really considering trying to build my own metal rack. I've got a few welding classes under my belt and my father has a MIG welder at his place so it might just be worth it. I just wouldn't really know what metal to use or where to get it really :D.
