payment plans
Hey I am considering adding a couple more ball pythons to my collection. But with xmas right around the corner, I realy dont want to shell out all the cash at once right now. I have noticed there are a breeders that are willing to work with buyers(monthly payment plans) and I was wondering how they realy work. How much of a percentage of what you owe do you pay a month? How many months are the payment plans? Thanks in advance:)

Re: payment plans
I have given customers payment plans.....I just find out what they can afford per check/month and we go from there.
Most others will ask for a deposit and then they worm them about the same as me.

Re: payment plans
Each breeder is different...an average is 25% down (nonrefundable) and 3 more payments of 25%. The value of the animal has a bearing on the length and amount of payments. Just remember all breeders are different and set their own individual payment plans.

Re: payment plans
Generally it is 25% to hold your animal and then you set up how many months you need and the breeder will allow. Then you pay it on time every time if you think you cant make the scheduled payment let the breeder know. I've worked with a few people when it came to payment plans, but ask the breeder if the deposit is refundable because most are not. Because the breeder takes that animal off the market potentially losing a sale many times over if you back out then its on you.

I would like to get a 1.0 butter or a lesser, and would like to try to find a breeder to work with me on one.

I would like to find a breeder that would allow me to put 25percent down and than pay off monthly 100dollars a month:)

yeh he has some very nice animals, but he wants half down now, and the other half in january. Doesnt realy seem like a payment plan, but I am not familiar with them so I cannot say.

Re: payment plans
I've always been firmly in the camp of if you can't afford it, don't buy it. God forbid you buy the snake, and two weeks later, it requires a serious vet visit. Then you've got no cash. Wait til the holidays are over. You never know, maybe there's a shiny new lesser waiting under the tree for you!!! ;)

Re: payment plans
I would possibly like to get 0.1 mojave

Keep lookig, like we said each breeder makes their own plans. Worse case just make the payments to yourself, when you get the money saved just buy the animal. You wouldn't get it until paid in full anyway. I have a seperate stash of extra money thay I use for this purpose, and to fund trips to reptile shows.

I think that you should possibly read my post more carefully, I never once said I couldnt afford it. I just dont want to shell out all the cash at once,I have 14 ball pythons now and have no problem paying vet bills or anything that they require. I am guessing that you most be loaded though if you feel that way, you have never had a loan out on a vehicle, car, credit card. Sorry but it realy is the same thing. But thanks for your concern:gj:

Re: payment plans
For the record, most breeders will work out a payment plan for you. But the animal will not be shipped until fully payed for. Just to clarify in case you didn't know. :)

Didn't mean any disrespect. For some reason, I just didn't put a lesser ball python in the same ball park as a car loan.
I like FatBoy's idea. Put it aside in a jar. That way you won't have to worry about missing a payment, or any other problems that might arise while the snake isn't yet in your care.

Re: payment plans
I'd just say wait until after the holidays, it's like having your own payment plan but you're just paying yourself. The only downside is not having a snake picked out and on hold, but there are ALWAYS snakes around to be bought.

Re: payment plans
I try and help people out with payment plans whenever I can ... but with certain animals, it just doesn't work for me business wise ... right now, lessers, butters, and mojaves are selling extremely well for me for single payments. It's a hard decision for me because I've been there myself and have paid for plenty of animals on payment plans, but in the end I have to do what's best for my business and ultimately my family.
I'm sorry that in this case we weren't able to work something out that fits with your budget ... hopefully in the future I'll be able to put a great animal into your collection with terms that work well for both of us.
Thanks!

Re: payment plans
I'm with Adam; first and foremost is the breeders benefit in this transaction, and if these animals are selling without payment plans, i woudl sell them that way as well. I personally HATE payment plans, been screwed too many times to count, so the only ones that I now offer are a 25% (very firm) non-refundable deposit with the remainder to be paid off in two payments no longer than three months.
If you don't like the terms of payments plans, save up and buy the animal outright. Cash is still king.

I am also with Adam, and never claimed that he does business badly, it is his decision and OBVIOUSLY needs to do whatever benefits him first and foremost. I believe that I asked a question about payment plans, details, and how they worked. Adam is a great guy and an awesome breeder, and I would be honored to have any of his animals in my collection. :gj:

Re: payment plans
If you can save up and buy from Adam with a single payment you won't be disappointed. He's one of the most stand up guys around, and his animals are worth it for sure.
