But of course the books >>>>>>the movie. Always <3
Anyway I think this post is in the wrong forum lol

I haven't seen the movie, but I've read the books. I like the books, but from a writer's perspective, they're not as great as some written by other writers.

Re: Are there any Twilight fans out there?!?
Never read the books, saw the movie with my fiance...and I don't really know too many guys who's honestly like the books...
Whenever I want to get my Vampire on with a book I read Anne Rice books or Christopher Moore's Blood Sucking Fiends series.

Re: Are there any Twilight fans out there?!?
I haven't seen the movie, but am halfway through the first book. I like it pretty well so far. I bought the saga, and plan to read them over the next few weeks.

Re: Are there any Twilight fans out there?!?
if i wanted to see a movie with little boys and girls flying around covered in fairy dust i would just watch Peter Pan.
There was too much hype over this, and i can honestly say it was the worst movie i had ever seen. It was pretty funny sitting in the theater with two grandmas sitting next to me laughing out loud cuz they thought it was so bad. They commented to me after the movie,"That movie wasnt seriously supposed to be good, was it?" Those two ladies made the movie for me.

Awesome movie. Awesome books.

Re: Are there any Twilight fans out there?!?
Horrible movie, excellent books.
They're changing the director and increasing the budget for the 2nd film so I've still got some hope :)

Re: Are there any Twilight fans out there?!?
 Not one bit. Don't like them at all. lol

They actually haven't started filming yet. There's still some things to settle as far as who is going to play Jacob, etc...
Hated the movie. Love the books.
Hope the second is better with the new director!

The new movie is supposed to come out november 2009, as far as my friend who's completely obsessed with Robert Pattenson is concerned . They've already found a new director, and a new actor for Jacob. I wish that the original Jacob could stay in the movies. He was pretty cute and believeable! That's what stilt's are for people!! lol. Lemmie give my friend a call to see where she found that info

They're saying that they don't think he'd do as well playing a badass werewolf. I can kinda see that. I liked him in the first but don't think he'd do as well in the 2nd.

True, that character role does go through some drastic changes.
Anywho, here's a link to the yahoo movies site, which says that nov 20, 2009 is going to be the release date for New Moon

Wait, Hold up... WHAT??? I LOVE SHARK BOY! Well, okay, so he is really not tall enough to be Jacob-the-werewolf-version, but, who cares? I tell you, Wolverine is supposed to be only 5'4" and he is being played excellently by 6'3" Hugh Jackman. I'm this huge wolverine fan and I was really upset that Jackman got picked to play Wolverine - I just didn't think he would be believable, but, hey, I was very much mistaken. Shark boy (what is his name... Taylor somebody... I just know him as Shark boy) is awesome! Great actor and on Twilight, you can just feel Jacob in his very limited screen time even with the horrible wig. He has that mischievousness and great comraderie with Bella down pat. I think he would do really well in the 2nd movie as well. I think it would suck if he doesn't play Jacob in New Moon - the continuity factor is going to be drastically compromised. It's kinda like watching Mummy 3. Without Rachel Weiz, it is just lacking something...
I loved the books because of its storyline and creativity. I mean, to be able to come up with something fresh from the vampire genre - that is quite a feat. But, it is not really a literary genius... the writing style is too verbose that sometimes it just drags and slows the story down. Definitely not on the same league as JK Rowling. So, I'm still not sure why it got such a huge following... probably good timing - you know, the last Harry Potter book came out and all these teenie boppers felt bereft and needed something to keep the fire going... and some girls read Twilight said something to their girl friends and just spread like wildfire from there...

I have to disagree about Meyer not being at the same level as Rowling. I think they are relatively equal but have different but not necessarily opposing literary styles. I think Meyer did a much better job with character development and being able to capture the intimacy and closeness that can occur between two people falling in love, and this is coming from a 20 year old man. This is not to say that Rowling's character development is not good, it does just not have the same sense of depth. With that said, I think the gloominess and ominous tones that the later end of the HP series grows into shows more literary prowess by being able to adapt the story with the times and with the readers...but even Meyer did this with Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.
Overall, I think they are both great series, and I own both. Among some of my other favorites are the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, most anything from Raymond Feist, though I particularly liked Magician: Apprentice and Magician: Master. I love a lot of classics too, perhaps to many to mention, but for a few...Fahrenheit 451, almost everything by Kurt Vonnegut, and Heart of Darkness.
