Anyone Game? Birmingham in January?

So, just for grins and giggles, I checked room rates at LaQuinta for January 16th through the 18th (the show is on the 17th) and with my corporate discount (which I'll PM to anyone interested) the rooms are just $28.80 a night! Without the discount, it's still $32 a night.

And for Trey/Jamie and Shaun/Jamie - if you guys did the suite again, it's just $53.10 a night

So - is anyone game for that weekend?

I know we talked about April being the likely next time, but with those rates - I'm game!

I'm new around here but i live about 45-1hr from birmingham and id love to attend if you could PM me details that'd be awesome.

I'll have to clear it with Dean first, as I promised him "No more shows until April"... :rolleyes: .....but, by then, it'll be about time for me to replenish my supply of frozen rodents....so....... LOL Maybe....

I just figured, that's a heck of a room rate, and by then gas will be darn near $1 a gallon! :D

Unless something is going on that weekend that I don't know about, we're game!! Can't beat that, especially with the fun we have there! Count us in! Haven't talked to Trey and Jami about it, so not sure what they have going on.

Woot, woot! Although I'm not quite sure why we need Birmingham as a reason to get together - local dude! :P

Oh, and anyone who thinks that they "might" come, but aren't sure yet - go ahead and make a reservation anyway to LaQuinta on Cahaba Park Circle in Birmingham.

You can cancel as late as 6 pm the day of arrival (the 16th) if you figure out you can't come - but I don't know how long these rates will be this good for that weekend. It was just $56 a night a few weeks ago when I FIRST made reservations - because I heard a rumor that the Bailey's might be coming in January.

Oh that sounds like fun. I'll have to talk to the hubby and okay it too. I'd really like to bring my son to a show, as I think he'd really have fun. I think my daughter would like it a bit too, but she and her dad would be once around and they're done. lol.

Go ahead and PM me too, just in case. :D

:DI will be trying to go each time(since i am 10 min away from the show) so i am going in DEC and Jan so I can't wait to meet you all!

Even thought I like TGI Fridays being a tradition for our trips to Birmingham, if we make it in January, I might be with you on the fast food joints, or sandwiches in the room!

if yall come over friday we could go to my familys restraunt(italian deli) Its right there in southside

they close at 6 on fridays and are closed on Sat :(

That would be really cool - BUT, most of us arrive after 8 pm on Friday, and head over to Carraba's around 10 pm for dinner.

We are seeing if we have interest for January, and we most likely will have a big group in April. The show is small, but the company is second to none!

I can't this time around it's crunch time at work from now till February and I've got a number of projects that need to be taken care of.

Well, we are going to have to pass on the January trip, we have something going on the week before that, and there isn't no way we are going to be able to make it money for two straight events on weekends. But we are there in April, no doubts!

Actually a pretty good show I have been attending all the North East shows now about 18 years and since my move to NC I have tried some new grounds and have been to the last two Birmingham shows and will be attending the 1-17-09 show.

I maybe there in jan as I need to get mice as they are very cheap there and also I am scared to go as I know alot of people there and they will wonder why I am not setting a booth up..... and also I have a new snake and I will probally come home with another:rolleyes:!! Or even come home with a crested gecko or something as I have never come home empty handed as I would always sell all my reptiles and come home with the same amount!! Ohh well I hope to be there!! Well, it looks like Karl and I ARE still going in January.

He asked me this evening if I'd cancelled the reservation for the room yet (I hadn't) and we decided the room rate was too good to pass up, and we like to make weekend trips out of town, that we'd take advantage of it.

I asked him "even if no one else comes?" He said "yup!". Helps that we also received restaurant gift cards for Christmas to help us out with meals! :P

So for those of you local to the show, can't wait to meet you!

For those of you who would have to travel and spend the night - we'd still love to hang out with you if you wanted to stay at the same hotel!

Christie, still think you might be able to make it? Might be a perfect one to bring the kids and stay Sat evening if you want! *****nudge, nudge, nudge*****

There isn't enough straps on any car seat for Matt anyway, maybe a padded room would be more appropriate.

As far as the show, Monster Trucks is cancelled, but there is still no way we are going to be able to go, too close to Christmas, we are going to need more time to recover before taking another weekend trip to Birminham. Was going to go to the Atlanta show, but have a birthday party to go to that weekend. So, we will be ready for our next show, come on April!

Makes me sad :(

We're due for another weekend "get-away", and it's Birmingham or Chattanooga, and since I already had the room reserved, and gift cards for meals, we figured we'd go for it!

I've got to find out when my son's basketball game is. If all works out alright, then I will bring my both of my kids. I think the hubby is out of town or on call that weekend.

Well, looks like Karl and I are still going, we'll head out tomorrow afternoon. If anyone in the B'ham area want to meet, shoot me a PM and I'll give you my cell number!
