    College Students Unite!!!
Well...I just got bored of studying for my Economics exam and decided to post this so any other students studying for finals could relax...and complain about their exams!

I just got done with a marathon econ session...figure I'll get another half marathon tonight and tomorrow before the test

    Re: College Students Unite!!!
I finished all my finals except one and I'm debating on whether or not I should study for it. No one in that class has higher than a C, and we always fail his tests. They don't reflect the material we covered in the slightest. He's one of the worst teachers I've ever had. He thinks he teaches kindergarten or something. He gets mad if we're on our computers (most of us take notes on them) and will yell at you if you're not "facing front." How stupid is that? It's college for crying out loud! Anyway, I already know I'm going to fail the test, so tomorrow I'm going to just look it over for a few hours, and try to get what I can out of it. This is really going to pull down my GPA, and it's so infuriating because I'm only .02 points away from a full scholarship. :tears:

that sucks...luckily I haven't had a professor like that. I know the feeling on gpa's though. My accounting professor tried to give me an application for an accounting scholarship that would be worth about $5000, only to find out that my gpa is .03 too low...that would have really helped my parents too...I might be able to get it after my finals this semester though which would be sweet!

I start finals tomorrow. I am in similar situation as you guys. my gpa is .044 away from getting into the 5 year masters program. That would really cut down on the scholarship money I need for grad school. I have Ancient Egypt tomorrow, Automatic Feedback Control Systems on Thursday, Applied Electromagnetics on the following Monday, and Digital Signal processing the next day. (I am an Electrical engineering major)

If I don't get into the 5 year master program, my GPA will still be high enough to get into really good grad school. Maybe I will leave michigan and head down south for grad school. I am tired of this cold weather.

You go to UM? I go to South Carolina and it is cold here right now(I guess cold is relative, huh?) I'm just a Soph, but I'll need a good GPA to get into the MACC(Masters of Accounting) Program here.

I do all my college online... I take new courses every 12 weeks, and its coming down to finals. I just finished a final paper that I put off until the last minute, 7 pages of excellence that took me 2 hours to finish... gotta love procrastination!!! :D

x2 on procrastination...thats why I love not having early classes so I can do all of my homework/studying before class as opposed to the night before

I had to complete a drawing for friday (which I did, ON TIME!!). It took about 60 hours, 36 of which were done in one sitting. It was intense, and I was falling over by the end of it. Just glad it is done with.

Now I have two more exams.....uuugh

I have studying I need to do for some finals, and a paper I need to write. I should be writing it right now but I guess I'm just procrastinating ... I have an American history final that will be cake (the professor already gave us the answers) but the paper is in that class, a social stratification exam I am a little nervous about, and a Spanish exam. This is my first quarter at this college so I have a clean slate to work with for my GPA, it feels pretty good

i have two science finals, a take home final, and the worlds most annoying lab report to complete before I can call it a day. ...oh yeah and the semester project in Art of Japan, but my group is full of proactive people with control issues so I'll let them shoulder it (i'm busy shouldering my genetics lab group so it's not entirely unfair).

Good luck everyone. This, too, shall pass.

Procrastination, what a wonderful thing. I have to write a 20 page paper on the global cycling and biomagnification of mercury for my environmental toxicology class. I have to hand in on thursday night before my final. I have the intro done and thats about it and I've hardly started studying for the final.

    I love college.

its nice to see a few other accounting majors here! I'm actually not freaking out about finals which is nice :) I'm actually sitting in Cost Accounting right now and gosh Make or Buy stuff is so rediculously easy. I hope since the final next week isnt cumulative I will be able to pull an A on this test which would bump my total grade up to an A as well.

Everyone, take a deep breath, close your eyes, and think about whatever makes you smile (your boy, your girl, Santa, whatever). It's all going to be ok. You're going to do just fine. :gj: And if you don't, you can always go back home and hold a herp to feel better. :snake::D

I work full-time, and take classes at night, so I wimped out and only took Cell Biology this semester. The professor's really good, but he's tough, and his test questions are meant to trick you. So, I'm taking the day off of work tomorrow, going to study all day, and hopefully be ready by 6pm.

With somewhere around 90-100 credit hours under my belt, I'm still holding on to my 4.0, but I never know semester to semester if I'm going to keep it. I'm applying to William and Mary's in VA next year, so I really want to look sharp (<30% acceptance rate for transfers).

    Wish me luck!!

    BWAHAHAHA!! I am DONE!!...

Well, my last final is tomorrow, but it's a write-off almost. And the acting final I did today was a huge hit. :)

This has been a crud semester for me, what with injuries making me miss tests and classes. And the standardized Chemistry final I took Tuesday was a total disaster! I swear we got the wrong test, there was a lot on there that we had never even heard of. I don't care if I fail that final as long as I pass the class.
Tomorrow is the final for the Chem lab and a) we use our lab notebooks, b) even if I bomb the final I still pass the lab with a B. :D

So tomorrow afternoon and Friday shall be spent doing absolutely nothing! After that, I get to work building the snake rack and cage system.

Tons of luck for good grades to all those who suffered through finals!!

You are lucky for that. I have my Spanish final at 9:00 then come to the house and clean up & pack up the snake...go home...cook for my mom, partners, & potential partner on Friday night(I do get paid for this...so I can't complain too much), then back here on Saturday to study for Accounting on Monday morning...

So basically what I'm getting at is you should build that snake rack and send it on over to SC. Congrats on your acting final and good luck to you on the Chem lab...and thanks for the wishes of luck on good grades...I'll need them:taz:

The rent is due, as is the power bill. Auto insurance actually went down, but we added two drivers this year so it really went up. Food is over rated, who needs to eat more than once a day? I got new shoes 2 years ago and they still work just fine. Of course new cleats and sports equipment for the younguns cost more than I've ever spent on just plain shoes, but what can you do? I can skip lunch but you can't play soccer barefooted. I found a deal on cell phone rates, but had to buy new phones when I switched companies.

But hey, it could be worse.

I could be a student, living in a dorm, having food prepared by semi-sapient automatons which in no way demeans the food, having no real responsibilities other than consuming mass quantities when appropriate and doing well on my exams. Of course that means I must not only study but retain what I study long enough to regurgitate it in sufficient quantities to prove that I actually know what I'm repeating which, while difficult, is no where near the difficulty level of going to work every damn day knowing that if I call in sick or just skip there will be no pay for the day.

    Perspective. And point of view.

I'm not knocking any of you students, just trying to glue enough brain cells together to remember what it was like when I was you.

    Don't be me.

    Graduate.

Just saw this topic, so great.

    **Rant**

I'm taking a woman's studies class, and sorry to feminists, I'm really starting to detest anything that has to do with the topic. I can understand presenting the material for the class in a bias-free manner leaving room for the personal opinions; but this woman is literally failing me because I do not agree with her views. I go above and beyond writing assignment requirements and answer topic questions with logical arguments and she gives me flat ZEROS. I went to speak with her at office hours and she said "yes I'm aware I'm failing you" and when I ask to try and make up assignments she simply says "no my grade is final." I mean honestly, this women claims that the number of bathrooms on my campus is sexist...why? Because it takes women longer to use the bathroom, hence long lines. So the makers of buildings need to be aware of this and make more bathrooms. COME ON. Getting worked up now. Finals suck.

...oh by the way, I'm a women.

I'm going to be up all night again tonight studying for my foundations final. I've struggled in that class b/c the guy that is teaching is only visiting for the semester. We had a few prof. retire recently in the architecture department, and they are having a hard time filling the positions. The guy we have now knows his stuff, but hasn't taught before that I can tell, it's mostly just chit-chat. *bleh*

I'm done with my calc III final (what a killer...) and astronomy (complete blow off). I was up all night studying for the calc test, went to the test, got out with the aim of going home to eat and sleep, then realized I was supposed to be at work 30 mins. ago!! :O *oops* Luckily my manager also has classes and finals (it's a local pizza place) so she didn't mind much. I've always been very reliable there, so she cuts me a bit of slack when I need it.

As of tomorrow at 11-ish I'm done!! Then I have to go to work, but as of midnight I'm completely done!! Whoo!

I graduated in june, and let me tell you I feel SOOO glad to be out of school.

Kinda really sucks being unemployed, but I've got a good chunk in savings + help from parents until I get hired. I'm going to be picking up some kind of temporary job soon until something I can make a career out of comes along.

But even with bills, looking for work and other crap I have to deal with "in the real world", it's nice to be able to cook for myself(and not be wasting money on forced meal plans), have my own 2BR apartment, own some herps(no pets other than aquatics allowed in dorms where I went), have time to go to a movie, I get to get a full nights sleep every night.. Bunches of good things to being graduated.

AND I've dropped 10 lbs from 170 to 160, no real exercise, I just eat as much as I want of my own cooking rather than the crap we got fed on campus.

Plus now I'm doing fun adult things like shopping for an engagement ring, decorating my own 7 foot xmas tree(try fitting THAT in the dorm rooms on campus!), having dinner parties w/friends.. It's pretty great!

Of course hardly a week goes by without thinking that it would be so fun to be back at college again.. but I have friends still in undergrad who tell me about their papers and tests and I feel alright again being graduated.

    DONE!!! :carrot::carouse::pinkele::fest:

Free for 5 weeks! Yay! Now I can sew and build and all that stuff I've been putting off during the worst semester of my college career.

Another good note: My BF had a VERY promising interview this morning, and they are now doing the whole background check that means that they probably want to hire him! $10/hr (up from $8 in current Joe job) doing something he'll actually like that helps him toward his game design goals. :D:D

As for the whole college living and food thing... well I wouldn't really know about dorms since I've never lived in one. Instead, I get to live in an apartment where I can have all my snakes, but take the bus to classes which takes half an hour (10 min by car).
Food on and around my campus can be a challenge if you want to eat healthy. Not because there are no options but because the campus is in the middle of downtown Denver: expensive! Sure there are eats on the campus itself...but only the basic student fare of McDs, Taco Hell(err Bell), Subway and the like.

Since I go to school mostly to pay the rent and bills (grants and loans are my half of the income), keeping my financial aid is extremely important. So the killing myself studying for passing and good grades is so I can continue to eat and have a home.
There are times I almost wish I were living in a dorm with the assistance of parents paying tuition...but those are few and far between. :)

I'm just glad to be rid of chemistry!

i've already had all of my finals except for my two biggest ones today. One is my american Government class which the only grades in it are the mid term and the final (no extra credit at all *sigh*) and the other is my Breed's, Restraint, and First Aid class for the Vet Tech program that i'm in. It's 45 multiple choice, then 100 slide show questions asking for the breed of cow, horse, pig, sheep, goat, cat, or dog, it's Purpose (hunting/draft animal, food production, ect) and the colors (sorrel, brindle, red, roan). It's some crazy stuff. I also have three papers that are due in that class, one on Equine Restraint, Food Animal Restraint, and then Emergency Care procedures. Fun stuff

I have a history exam today in about 2 hours, and an english one on wednesday...
the one today is stressing me out, but its just like the other exams i have had in his class... week before the exam he gives us 20 terms from our sheet, we study those, and then for the exam he puts 15 of those 20 on a sheet, we define the 10 we know best... but dates are a must... im just praying i get a high b or an a... :please: my grade in there before my term paper i turned in last week was a 85... so yeah... well off to read more flash cards :tears: :weirdface

did i mention that we have only had 2 exams before this? and the term paper? they are each worth 25% of my grade... so they are pretty important... considering there really isnt room for error... blehh

I think I am good for the chem final tomorrow though.

I can relate to the rent due bills late saga of life as well. I am only back in school because I was fired from my decent job back in April and let me tell you I wish I had done this 10 years ago straight out of high school. Hopefully though this will be a living lesson for my daughter to go to college!
