Morph combo BEL
i know you can use multiple morphs in combination to make BELs ex. mojo x butter. my question is if you breed a combo BEL to a normal will you produce both parent morphs or some combination of the two? ex. will you get both butters and mojos, or snakes somewhere inbetween?
thanx :snake:

Re: Morph combo BEL
i think that you will just get normals, with a possiblity of mojos.
use the search, this has been covered many times.

typically you should get both butters and mojos and some normals

Re: Morph combo BEL
BEL's are homozygous so you should produce all mojos, lessers, butters, whatever is used to produce the BEL...Super pastel x Normal = all pastels...would be the same for BEL's

2nded :)
BEL x Normal = what made the BEL (lesser BEL = all lessers, lesser mojave BEL = 1/2 lessers, 1/2 mojos)

Re: Morph combo BEL
as far as i thought you definately shouldnt get any normals from it because it is a homo co-dom, like dresse88 said, ex super pastel x normal = all pastels, super cinni x normal = all cinnis, super black pastel x normal = all black pastels, i just wasnt sure if you would get snakes that were both clearly mojos and clearly butters or if the genes were so close (since you get the same super form from so many crosses) that the offspring would come out somewhere inbetween the two.
no offence hawaiianice but i looked all over before posting this, i dont know if theres some unknown reason that a homo co-dom would produce normals and if there was i apologize, but you sound like the guy at the white plains show who tried to tell me that pastel was completly dom and i would get all pastels from a pastel x normal pairing ( he was a vendor and i had to explain to him that there was a super form, i think he was selling someone elses snakes ) i just get frustrated when people spread misinformation, and like i said if thats not the case i apologize in adavence.

Re: Morph combo BEL
Genetics can be a tricky area and so don't ever hesitate to ask questions even if it might have been covered before. Most of us could use the refresher :)

Re: Morph combo BEL
Can you even make a BEL using a butter?
I haven't heard of anyone actually doing it yet even though it should in theory produce one like mojos and lessers do.

Re: Morph combo BEL
according to NERD you can use: butters, lessers, mojos, phantoms, and russo hets, all of which make BELs when combined with each other or the same morph except phantoms, 2 phantoms make a super phantom, but phantom outcrossed to one of the others makes a BEL

that's interesting about the phantoms..I was completely unaware that outcrossed with one of the other BEL genes they would make a BEL..I knew about the super phantoms, but no clue they would make a BEL

Yeah, Ralph stumbled upon that about 5 years ago I think, or maybe 6? He calls them 'Karma' Leucistics. The original Phantom female, when paired with the original platty daddy, created white snakes with some color and pattern. It was a surprise and is what started the whole Lesser allele complex ball rolling. He didn't actually produce any super phantoms until a few years later.

Now that you mention it I have read on his website about the "Karma" Ball.:gj:
