Always poop in the same spot?
Does your snake consistently poop in the same spot?

I have a pretty large enclosure (50 gallon tank) and my snake has gone ~4 times now and it's been in the same spot every single time. I'm just trying to find out if this is odd.

My BP never poops in the same spot. He poops in his one hide and other times in a corner of the tank.

Its likely because it is a comfortable and secure spot, yet it is not where he is MOST comfortable (often it is the least used hide). He does not want to lay in it, but he wants to be comfortable.

    This makes complete sense.

mine has a few spots that he usually drops in... one of which is his cool side hide... he likes to hide it from me and make me figure out why there was a huge spike in humidity... then I lift up his cool hide and BAM...

He's saying that the enclosure is so large, that the snake is afraid to move out into the open or explore, so it's staying in the same place all of the time, even if it's not the most secure place for him to be.

To me it made some sense because even with the size of the enclosure he regularly frequents 2 hides. I have 2 other hides in the cage that I have rarely seen him in. I've actually never seen him in the hide he poops in but seems to be frequenting it (at least to poop).

Mine all just seem to go, wherever. I do notice though, that the poop is almost always along the edge/side of the tub. I hardly ever see poop in the middle of the tub.. I guess maybe that they like to slither along the side to go?

My girl always goes in the same corner of her hide. Why she insists on pooping where she sleeps is beyond me!

yeah, my corn always poops in the same corner where she sleeps too. she doesn't poop there EVERY time, but i'd say 90% of the time, she poops in that same spot on the warm side.

Poop goes where it goes. They have no rhyme or reason.

Fundamentally I have a hard time understanding this notion. I understand that snakes, like most reptiles, like to have stuff to hide in, but last time I looked outside nature is a bit larger than storage tub...

In their natural environments, do they find a hole to live in and just never leave that hole?

My little female doesn't go in the same location every time, but she had me thinking she was paper-trained for a few minutes! :P

I have a few crumpled up pages of newspaper in her tank, just to use up some empty space, and she happened to poop right on one of the balls of paper.

I have tubs, and none of my snakes poop or pee in the same place. Often they will even go in their hide (I give each one).

My normal bp poops on the corner of her water bowl every single time...the only & I mean only time she poop somewhere else was when I bought her a new bigger hide...I guess she felt intimidated with the new hide & poop on her hide but besides that only time she poops on the same spot...I have a 60 gallon tank & I have her for over a year now...my lemon has gone on every spot of his enclosure...I guess is just depends on your bp...

Most of the time, he'll poop right smack next to his hide and sometimes in his hide.

This varies a lot with the BPs I work with. Some of them seem to go in the same place all the time. For some, the spot is in the hide, for others it is as far from the hide as they can get. Others don't seem to have preferred spots to go in. Same goes for the carpet pythons.
