what boa should i get?

i,m looking to get something a bit bigger an a ball python, but not huge. like in the 6-8 foot range.

for now i'm debating between these 2, but other suggestions are welcome.

I'd get a Bci; but that's just me!

Bci's come in such a range of looks and are very different from ball pythons and are really fun to keep. They are forgiving of the first time boa owner's husbandry errors and are what I consider to be a next-step-up sort of snake.

100% agree with everything with starmom.. especially the "that's just me!" :D BCIs are pretty darn neat.

i think i will go with a bci, i've been researching and they are just so cool. even the normals have intense patterns and colors! now all i have to do is convince my parents:D:D. All my grandparents want to get me a reptile for christmas, but my parents keep telling them no more animals.

It will be a little while before I can get a bci simply because I need to train the gf to like larger and larger snakes :D Right now my '08 ball python is the "perfect size" according to her, but I think after it grows up a little bit she'll get used to the idea of a bigger snake.

I'll be totally jealous if you can convince the 'rents!

Colombian. Just a good all-around snake that gets big but not huge and has a great temperment (for a reptile with over 200 razors in it's head, I mean). I made the mistake of having my very first snake way back in the 80's be a Burmese.

Yeah, BCI's tend to be a little more forgiving when it comes to husbandry (the snake kind, not the "That's-the-third-time-you've-come-through-that-door-at-two-in-the-morning-this-week!" type of husbandry).

I almost forgot the numbers thingy! (I couldn't edit my post because I fell asleep on my keyboard and went over the 10 minute time limit).

I'd get a Hog Island because they got the Columbian-type look but don't get as big.

I would go with a BCI, they stay in the range you want, atleast I believe the males do & they're beautiful.

go with a roswell.

You could get a male Amazon tree Boa, they dont get to big. but they are not really a "next step up" snake from a BP. they are a lil bit trickier to keep, and tend to be nippy.

I am looking for a radiant Rainbow myself. To me they are just the most beautiful looking snakes going. Not many to be had though, at least not right now...

I would definately go with a bci, probably a male for the size u want. Though I'm kinda biased, as I have two females, my biggest is 8 1/2 ft.

If you've got room for it. Get a Columbian. Hands down.

Go with a BCI. It'll be a better 'first boa' experience IMO.

Get a baby BCI
They in a year it still won't be too big.
After a year with one I was looking for bigger snakes.

6 feet might sound big, but it really aint, lol.

And BCI are more beautiful then BPs:D
