Get some prevent-a-mite, take snake & water out, spray enclosure, wait a few minutes and replace water & snake. Some people use reptile relief, but I don't know anything about it...Others will be able to give a better answer than this.

ok take everything out of his enclosure clean it put him on paper towels and use provent a mite you can get it here beanfarm.com in the meantime pick all the ones you see and smoosh them. it wouldnt hurt to give him a nice soak either. if you use any wood in his enclosure bake it for a half an hour at 350 in the oven. hope this helps good luck

you can also put all the tank accesories in the freezer for half the day and that will kill anything also. Thats if you dont want to go the oven bake method.

i came home today and there were alot of dead mites on his paper towel. i srpayed down everything again but when i took out one of his hides there were big ones and a bunch of small ones all over it i was guessing that some hatched so i threw it out and i sprayed him down and such. tonight im giving him a good treatment other then just spraying him in his tank. but i see that his mouth is begining to stay open for long periods of time does anyone know why? is he just being very bugged from them or somthing? :( this is not good.

What are you spraying your snake with?
Do you hear popping or wheezing sounds coming from the snake?
Do you see any sign of mucous around the snake's mouth or slimed around the snake environment?
Have you used Provent-A-Mite as PAM works for weeks and so kills any mites that hatch out?

Sounds like your snake is in the early stages of an RI.

    Re: Oh No! :(
Yes, it's vet time. If you can see mucous then it is past the early stages and you really need to get the snake to the vet so that he/she can do a culture and give you the proper meds to give to the snake :)

    Re: Oh No! :(
In the meantime you can bump up the temps in the snake environment. This will help somewhat until you can get him in- the sooner the better :)

ya i havint had the best temps in there im an idiot for not noticing but i have the red light on him now plus the heat pad and it seems to be steady. can the cold cause a RI?

    Re: Oh No! :(
Temps that are too low can cause an RI (respiratory infection).

Can you share what the environment is for the snake, what the temps are, how you control the temps and what you use to measure the temps? Sharing this info will allow myself and others to offer advice that can help to prevent another RI from happening. Vet bills are a drag and having a sick animal is a drag.

    Re: Oh No! :(
Husbandry errors are a drag- especially when you know better ;)

Remember that you want your warm temps to be about 92F (except for now when I would push it up to 94F) and your cool side temps to be around 82F.

Digital thermometers are relatively inexpensive, about 12 dollars, and are a good investment.

I guess you'll also be getting the next size larger UTH....
