    New Reptile Building Progression Pics!
I'm all moved into my new building and wanted to share some pics with everyone! The process started last April and I was able to move in last month. It isn't quite finished - there will be a greenhouse attached to the front. Inside the greenhouse will be a sink and space for the bugs. My husband did the work (except the cement and electricity) - with lots of help from our nephew who stayed with us this summer. This was my husband's first adventure into this kind of construction.

I'll start at the beginning - this is the site after the tractor came in and leveled the area. The stumps have been there for over a decade, so we thought the tractor would have no problem removing them.

    Wrong!
    http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y38...t/IMG_0719.jpg
Here you can see why the tractor didn't work. That root is as thick as the trunk!

Here's the stump after being removed from the ground.

Finally, some progress could be made!

    Here comes the power!

    http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y38...t/IMG_1491.jpg
Mostly done - still needs some painting and trim. And the greenhouse!

Here's the inside with everyone all moved in!

I'll add pics of the greenhouse when it's finished.

totally impressive...I noticed that there was a narrow trench dug in one of the pics, leading to the building...did you all put in underground conduit for power?

Very impressive - i bet you're just full of glee.

Are you not planning to expand? It looks a little crowded in there (not complaining just saying!! I think it's great!) Keeping it small makes it easy to keep warm, i bet.

huge congrats. **considers marrying a construction guy** lol

It is a very small building, but this is the size that my reptile-nonloving-husband was willing to build and it is much bigger than the old room, so I can't complain! Those baby towers are nearly full at the moment, but I'm hoping they won't be for long - I'll need the space for the 2009s! ;)

It does stay very warm - sometimes a bit too warm. I've run the AC much more than the heat so far.

A couple years ago we turned our former attached garage into living space and built this giant garage. I would LOVE to have that big building for my animals, but I'm afraid that's just not going to happen.

Thanks, Robin! It is soo much easier now to get to thermostats & outlets (or loose animals) than it was in my old room. Easier to rearrange things too! :)
