    still dehydrated
Our little pistachio is still dehydrated. we have a humid hide and the humidity is at 65%. I have soaked him a couple of times to see if that helps but it doesnt seem to do all that much. Also i noted tonight that he was very very active tonight(i did soak him) but i also soaked him last night and he wasnt nearly this active. I provide fresh water every day and the temeratures are 92 hot side and 84 on the cool side. Should i take him to a vet? im not sure if there is a vet near my appartment.

Thanks for the help, kinda a long read but im just concerned

    Hi,

Have you seen him drinking? How close are you to trying feeding (Sorry if I missed that info in another thread)?

    Hi,

I remember seeing the folds in a pic. But now I'm second guessing myself as they really should have gone away by now if it was just dehydration.

How far up his body do they run? Is it just the back third or so?

Just because you dont see him drink doesnt mean that he isnt drinking.

    Are you his original owner?

we've only fed him once, about a week after his shed.. (last weekend).it was a fuzzy and we were told that we could be feeding him 2 fuzzies- he's 55 grams (or was before we fed him). he ate the fuzzy quickly and hasn't been hungry since.

Too much soaking can also dry them out - it leeches their natural oils out of their skin. I'd stop the soaking.

A baby that size can be offered a nice fat rat pink or small fuzzy once every five days.

Fuzzy rat or mouse? There's a huge difference.

    Re: still dehydrated
also what type of water are you soaking him in? most tap water is treated and that could be a factor.

    Re: still dehydrated
it is tap water...but he also came to us dehydrated (mid shed)..we had to help him shed because it did not seem to come off. After he fed he only stayed in his hut which is the warmest and most humid part of his cage. Bo had some cups of water in the cage to keep the humidity up.

    Re: still dehydrated
you can also use a humid hide or just some random spagnum moss to up the humidity.

That was my hit. I remember the pictures you posted and I think I mentioned that... I would be giving him something more than a fuzzy mouse.

we are going to try to feed him a small mouse...they are about 11 grams and we were told that it would be fine to feed him that. should we wait untill after he sheds?

Offer away! Some take it and some don't.

Can you remind me how much your snake weighs? Asking because it is good to feed them about 10-15% of their body weight (weight on empty) until the total prey weight is anywhere between 80-100g or so....

A fuzzy mouse is not a meal for a baby - that's an appetizer. :)

Try a small hopper mouse (eyes and ears just opened and hops around like popcorn). The folds sound like no weight on him.

I believe they said 55 grams. I'd still go with a hopper (a size bigger than a fuzzy, but smaller than a small adult)

the frozen mice we got were fuzzies and then the next size up was "small mouse" would that be ok or is that too big? i weighed one and it was 11 grams (the dmall mouse) and i believe that it was the biggest one we have.
