    Subadult/Adult Desert Pics?
I've got the desert bug. :rolleye2: They are just so clean and vibrant, it makes me want to get a second job for a couple months until I get enough $$ to get one!

Anyone have pics of bigger desert morphs? I just want to see how they look when they get older... do they get better? Do they "brown" out, etc.

I'm referring to the codom (or dominant) gene.

Does anyone know if Pete Kahl's line is compatible with Pro Exotics' line? I guess We'll have to wait if they can cross to make a super (if there is one).

The only thing is that since they're codom/dominant, their value will come down quickly! (when compared to recessive genes) Would you be willing to invest $3000 in one?

    Watever
    Re: Subadult/Adult Desert Pics?
yeah value will get down, like all the other morph.

If you get a male, and breed them in 2 years, there won't be a lot of other people producing it. That mean, the price will still be good.

If it's a codom or dom, that mean you will be able to have 50% of the offspring be desert (unless you are talking about desert ghost recessive gene). If you breed the male to 2-3 normale females and get only 4 eggs / clutch, that mean you should end up with 4-6 desert. To make it even, the price would have to be lower than 500-750$. And that make sense.

Look at the market for enchi. I think it's gonna be nearly the same as it and more and more people are selling them, and the price is still around 600-700 for a male and more for a female.

All of this without taking in consideration the money involved in the next years to come and the combos.

Adult Deserts turn a Khaki color as they mature. I wouldnt say they brown out, but it is a dissapointing change. I dont know how the combos are going to fare. You can look at pro exotics page and check out the desert spyder sub adult. as a baby it was black and White and now it is kinda khaki colored. personally, i like the desert morph and the combos are exciting, i guess we will just have to see which combos are worth making.

I can't find the page you are referring to - are you sure you're not looking at a desert ghost combo vs. a desert combo?

Here's a picture of a sub adult Tiger I took in Daytona - Enchi/Desert combo:

As far as I know - yes, they are the same thing.

    Tristan,
check out stan chiras' pict on the Photo buckett of kingsnake of his original Desert(no im not referring to the bell's recessive desert ghost project). Stan has a pict of his adult Desert and no they dont look like the juveniles that other guys are posting. This is not a slam against them, this is education. How often does a breeder show you the adult snake? I dont think this deminishes the project but lets not fool ourselves either. The pict on Pro Exotics of the Desert Spyder is a Year old snake and it looks nothing like the pict of a baby Desert/spyder. There is a pict of a baby Desert/Spyder of Stan Chiras' on his photo bucket. Best of luck.

RR - since you know where these pictures are posted, can you post links, instead of us having to search for them?

NERD has both a co-dom and recessive line of desert ghosts that they are working with, btw. I prefer the recessive line.

I purchased my Desert directly from Stan and he gave me permission to use any of his photos. This is a photo of the original Desert that Stan imported from Africa.

At the time he thought it was a new line of Desert Ghost but it proved at least Co-Dom the first year when it reproduced itself. While the older animal looks a little different from the pictures of mine and the one Justin posted it doesn’t look that much different. If you take into consideration that the founding animal was wild caught it even makes it less of a difference.
