    age/size requirement before popping
I've watched the vids on youtube and read about it on here.

is there an age/weight/size requirement that should be passed before attempting?

younger is usually better than older for popping. In fact, most people consider the age/size requirement to be a size CUTOFF for popping.

Younger is easier for me. I popped my 1900g snake the other day and had a heck of a time!!

You can do it at any age...the question is CAN you do it! Bigger snakes can put up a good fight! I think males can fully avoid being poped if they do not want to be?

Within a week of hatching if possible.....right out of the egg is really good, as you move them into their new condos.

Right out of the egg is fine. In general, the younger they are the easier it is to pop them. If you haven't done it before you might want to have someone show you/talk you through it in person first.

I pop right out of the egg and after first shed. It is best to do it a few times as they begin to grow just to make sure.

I also find adults easier to pop than babies.

I have a ~3 yr old bp that I bought last month from some people who had gotten him from petland and had no idea what sex he is. This is my first snake, and even after watching the videos, I don't know if I feel comfortable popping him myself. This thread makes me even more nervous...I don't have a scale, but I'd guess he's around 1000 grams.

The videos from Ralph Davis and 8Ball make it look so easy, but should I try and find someone in Vegas to show me how to do it?

Sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread. There's so much to learn. :rolleye2:

I'd say that because you're nervous there would be very little chance of you hurting the snake because you won't be using a lot of pressure.

If you try and see nothing, at least you know that you have to increase the pressure. Watch the vids (I like Ralph's) and pop your snake along with Ralph :D

I don't think I have seen any of the videos and it makes sense to say it's not likely that someone will harm the snake if they are nervous.
What if they are trying to pop the hemepenes out of a female and continue to exert pressure?
I think I have seen threads of people doing this on accident and I thought it could do damage to the snake. If I were to try to pop a snake, this would be a concern of mine (as well as getting pooped on).
