Passing after eating
ok, might sound stupid, might be a simple answer, might already be posted, but how long does it usually take for a python to pass his food after feeding? i fed him monday, but he still has not gone? is that too long?? any help is greatly appreciated!!

Re: Passing after eating
Snakes usually defecate about once every 4-6 weeks. It takes them about 2 days to digest as well.

Re: Passing after eating
No worries. Mine on average poo once a week. I have one girl that hangs on for weeks, and when she goes it's big enough to funk up almost the whole house.

Re: Passing after eating
ok, i appreciate both of your responses. i was just wondering because when the first time i fed him, he went about 3 days later, but that could have been from prior feeding i guess. so i guess he is fine, but i wanted to check. one last thing, what is it supposed to look like?? is there any thing i should look for that might be a sign of something not normal???

Re: Passing after eating
You should see poop, some liquid, and whitish stones which are urates.

Re: Passing after eating
ok, i guess thats what i saw?? the one time he went, had some darker stuff in it, and had like a whitish marshmallowy cream like stuff mixed in?? is that normal?? i just want to make sure that i dont have a sick snake or anything. tomorrow will make two weeks that i have had him. he is eating fine, with no prob. i was told to feed about every 5 days, is that about right??

-
Re: Passing after eating
If he is a small young snake than yeah about every 5-7 days.
(@ Everyone else-- We need to post more poo it looks like. I think pictures would do so much for newbies.)

Re: Passing after eating
My snake is about 190-200 grams, and eats every 7 days. A couple of times it has been 6 days between though. On his 7 day schedule, he always seems to poop on the 5th/6th day.
Figured I'd post a picture of a urate I saw tonight, someone said a post about poop....but I don't have any of that until mon-tuesday...so this can do for now!!
haha

Re: Passing after eating
Does it say anything about the snake if he decides to poop -on- you?
I fed him on a Friday, let him digest for two days. Handled him lightly the following days and Wednesday night I had him out on my neck while playing WoW. Least until I felt something falling down my shirt that was wet and smelled unholy.
Guess I'm going to hafta refrain from that 5 days after feeding... else it'll happen again. x.x
