Pit bull Pics

Re: Pit bull Pics
For those that remember Baby, here's a pic. I need to take some new ones. She has come a long way. All her scars are mostly gone/covered, and she loves people now almost without prejudice. One heck of a heart warming turn around from when I first picked her up off the highway.

Re: Pit bull Pics
Glad to see other people helping this "viscous" dog breed. My dog was actually scheduled to be euthanized but escaped from the transport vehicle. A friend of mine seen him and brought him to me to nurse back to health. He was so skinny you could see his vertebrae. He has been amazing and tolerant of my 2 sons, 6 and 2. I want everyone to know THIS BREED IS NOT WHAT THEY ARE PORTRAYED TO BE, THEY ARE LOVING COMPANIONS.

Re: Pit bull Pics
Just a recap for those who may have forgotten, or weren't around. But I rescued Baby off the side of the highway late one night. She was little over a year old, had signs of recently having a litter, and had obviously been fought as she was torn apart. Took her to the vet to get stitched up, and had a pyrometra scare. She was very skinny, and very shy. With the exception of me and my gf at the time, she would not come near anyone. She would cower in the corner. But with us, she would act like a cat and lay across your laptop or do whatever was necessary to impede your work so you could spend more time with her. She never showed aggression, except to those wearing baseball caps. Bad idea. Very bad idea wearing baseball cap around her. Nowadays she'll go up to most anyone, as long as your not an african american over 200 lbs wearing a cap. She's still not all too friendly to people of that description. But to everyone else she acts like a baby, so the name stuck. For a college student, I have many many animals, and alot of responsibility, but few are a rewarding as she is.

Re: Pit bull Pics
That is an amazing story gooseman. She's looks like such a sweetheart. I wish I had time for a dog right now. Every time I go to the shelter I see a pitty that needs a good home and it just breaks my heart. Your boy is quite the handsome devil too.

Was it the one that occurred last year? Or maybe it was two years ago.

She's a South Holland dog as they were known, happened 2 years ago. Many of them still need homes. There is a pet resort in Chicago Ridge that is housing them for free until people adopt them.

Re: Pit bull Pics
I started this post because Lenawee County Michigan just went through with an attempt to ban pit bulls in all of Lenawee county, after that failed the City of Adrian (moved away from there 3 yrs ago) tried to ban them in the city limits, also failed. My dog was found wandering a block from the animal euthanasia location, and the animal control officer that he should be returned to be put down, even though they never posted anything at the Humane Society. I politely told him to got to hell and registered him in my name. Once i did that there was no way they could take him unless he did something wrong or they fought me in court. thanks again everyone for supporting the breed.

Re: Pit bull Pics
I LOVE this thread!!! Pit Bulls are banned a county over. If our Lucy was born there she would of been put down.
Lucy is a american staff terrier/ american bulldog. She is the sweetest and easiest to train dog I have ever had.
With my daughter

We also have an Akita and a Siberian Husky.

Re: Pit bull Pics
Opal is a dog I had to look after for around a year while my gf's brother was going through some financial hardship. He also owns her mother which is a 60lb pit. Opal was a runt and is now full grown at 20lbs.

Re: Pit bull Pics
From what I hear, over 90% of reported pit bull attacks are a case of misidentification.
And I believe it. Took me a couple tries... find the pit bull

Re: Pit bull Pics
Awww!!! Everyone has the cutest dogs!!! I LOVE that picture with the three pits, all the same color looking the same way! AWESOME picture!!!!
I commend those of you who rescued them from dog fighting and such!
I wish I could say we still owned this beauty, but the people who owned her before really messed her up. She was tied in a closet for the first 6 months of her life. Then she was in the shelter for another 2 months and didn't have much longer to find a home. She was beautiful, but once we brought her home I couldn't even walk by her without her growling at me. She ended up biting me bad enough to draw blood through my winter coat! It was too much for me, I cried and cried, but I couldn't keep her, she didn't like women at all, and I didn't feel safe around her. So.....here's my tribute of a beautiful girl that was born to the wrong family :( I've got tears in my eyes right now, I wish we could have found her first. I just don't understand people :(
She's a pit X weimaraner.

Her ear was always like that

Re: Pit bull Pics
He is pretty but I am a fan of the working type pitbulls. The ones who are too big and thick cant do much work without overheating and exhausting themselves.
And razors edge has moved on from pitbulls and created their own breed. The American Bully which is the short and wide, heavy pitbull type dogs.

Re: Pit bull Pics
I think it's pretty dumb that they want to place laws against Pit Bull breeds. Most don't know that the term Pit Bull actually includes many different breeds of dog. They'll make more work for themselves by placing a ban on them as they'll have to confiscate more than 5 different breeds of dogs (unless they place the ban specifically on the American Pit Bull Terriers). It'd be funny to watch the gov try to enfore that one :D

Re: Pit bull Pics
Here's some pics of my most recent rescue, Cruiser. He's about 4 years old, and seems to have been a bait dog. His teeth are filed down pretty flat and he's pretty scarred up. But he's got the most beautiful eyes. One white the other white, brown and blue.

Re: Pit bull Pics
Sorry to jump to conclusions on that pit puppy! I just see it all the time doing rescue and getting unhealthy animals in.
It is extremely hard when we walk into any of the local shelters here, they no longer adop out pitbulls at any of them. So we have to literally pick which ones live and which die. I hate doing rescue but love it at the same time. You get to see the horrible conditions the dogs came from and then see them happy in their new homes completely transformed. It is a great feeling.
My little female I have was a confiscation case. She was supposed to be a fighter, came from local lines off a major highway where they fight the dogs. She was 4 1/2 months old, weighed 11 pounds, had a ruptured eye and cherry eye in both eyes. Tried to get her brother on court order but lost the fight as there was no proof in the use of the dogs. She was charged with neglect though.
I hate seeing some people who own the breed, they either arent doing a good job at representing the breed, breeding horrible dogs for money or are just plain stupid!!! Breeding is the big one just because there are so many homeless pitbulls out there dying in shelters... even purebred puppies!
Rant over! lol

its not a problem, im the first person around here the shelters call when a pit comes in, i have the can't say no problem, i have just like you tranforemed alot of them and placed them in good loveing homes,
and 99% of the time the people i place them with keep me upto date with pictures and some even bring them over so i can see them,
and trust me i am deffinatly out of there way, i live on an island with perty much nothing here,
I don't understand how people could put these dogs through, what they do,
my dogs are my family they are not my dogs they are my son, & Daughter
sorry to keep on going but i will tell you a little story, about my baby and i will try to find a picture of her to post later
but anyways she was all of 30 pounds and loved car rides, one night right before our local gas station closed at 11pm i decided to goto the store for some ice cream, and of course like always she wanted to go and like always i let her,
so i get to the store and they are about ready to close so i run in and get my ice cream as i walked out they shut there lights off they were closed for the night
as i was headed to my car i was jumped, by a couple drunk a holes, as im lying on the ground getting the craped kicked out of my i here her locked in the car grawling snarling barking i had the windows up, as i looked up from the ground to see a foot comeing for my face i here the sound of glass shattering,
she came through the window full force a little 30 pound dog my baby, i had never seen her like that but to this day i would have to say she probably saved my life,
that dog from the day she was born to the day she passed away slept at the foot of my sons bed
sorry to keep going on but i love my kids
