Tavern on the Green, Central Park NYC, 1991. I was 8 years old, had pasta wheels in marinara sauce, it was $32. Not sure why I can remember that.

80$ per person!

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
There are two places that come to mind immediately. There's a steakhouse on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, MO called Plaza III. It's AMAZING food, but everything is a la carte. So, you're paying $40 for your steak, and that's JUST the steak, then you pay for any sides and whatever. You're looking around $75 a person before drinks or tip. The other place I'm thinking of is a restaurant in Center City Philadelphia called Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We went during restaurant week in Philly, so they had some specials running but for 8 people, the tab was around $750 before tip...

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
Mike Finks on the river in Covington, KY.
-
Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
Went to a Brazilian Steakhouse earlier this year. Was around $50 per person (well worth it).
-

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
My wife and I are not expensive people, we like simple stuff but alot of times for work I have to go out. The most expensive place I think was the 95th floor of the Hancock Bldg.

I always feel so out of place at places like this. I would rather be at IHOP with the kids

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
We try not to go to really pricey places, but the highest priced place we've ever been to was the Aquarium Restaurant at the Denver Downtown Aquarium. $100 for two people, but it was SOOO worth it! And the dining room is right next to their biggest tank, so you get to watch sharks and other tropical fish swimming around while you eat. :D

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
Ruth Chris...not worth the price IMO, more hoopla than good food.

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
I was on a trip to Chicago. There was a restaurant in the hotel called Shulas. My dinner for me was $120. All I had was steak medallions, asparagus spears, and potatoe, martini, desert. Luckily it was paid by the company.

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
The most expensive places I've been have already been listed....
A Brazilian buffet - I went with some friends down in TX and we ate until we were almost sick, but it was soo good! It ran about $50 a person
The Melting Pot - I went this year with my b/f as a kinda birthday/some other celebration dinner. It was so good....I would love to go back some time and just get desert. That ended up being about $70-80 a person...I don't quite remember, I just know it's not somewhere I'm going very often! :P

Wow, there is no restaurant that good!! And no matter how good it was, I would still convince myself it wasn't worth $250 each, no way. With prices like that I would hate to see what they charge for the drinks!! I don't do real expensive restaurants, I would say the most expensive I have been to is either Maggianos Little Italy or the Cheesecake Factory, and they aren't that bad, dang good food though!! Haha

You where in Chicago and went to Shula's instead of Ditka's? Bears fans will hunt you down:mad:

First time I went to Ruth's Chris, it was in San Antonio, and it was AWEsome. Was the best steak I'd ever had, and the best atmosphere as well. Tried a different Ruth's Chris recently, in Destin...and was quite disappointed. So I guess it depends a lot on each individual restaurant.
Morton's Steakhouse is really good. Fun and different.
The Melting Pot is one of my all-time favorite places to go.
The Charthouse is yummy!
Cattleman's Steakhouse in Fort Worth has awesome atmosphere and great food.
Those are some of the most expensive places we've eaten. There have been a few others, too, but those are the ones I remember right offhand. Dean and I have expensive tastes in dining, but don't often get to indulge. :)

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
The most expensive place I've eaten at was a Brazilian restaurant - and I agree - damn good food!
Oh yeah - I took Karl to Medieval Times for his birthday last year. The food was not anything to write home about, but the show was worth it! $50 a person - then my folks took me to the Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge for my birthday that was the same concept for the dinner and the show.
http://www.medievaltimes.com/home.aspx
The most expensive place that we WILL eat will be the Ritz Carlton. I won a trip for 2 last year at my company party to New Orleans - but really the trip could be anywhere. The airline tickets were worth $500 which doesn't get 2 people anywhere round trip, so I used the airline voucher to visit family. We used the American Express "spending money" for bills and we have $600 in Ritz Carlton vouchers still to use. We're going to just go to the one in Buckhead for a weekend which is close enough that we can run home and walk Diamond and we plan to eat "cheap" on Friday and Saturday evenings and use the rest of the vouchers for the brunch on Sunday which is supposed to be fabulous.
The rooms in New Orleans were over $300 a night, so it would have been more money out of pocket besides the extra we would have paid for airline tickets, rental car, boarding the dog, etc.
I've been able to find some weekends where the rooms are $200 a night, so that leaves us less than $200 to "play" with for a meal after also paying for valet parking, tips, etc for the room.

You have NO idea.. It was amazing. Truffles, elegant seafood, meats...
I got to sample a bottle of 1984 Merlot... Exquisite.
(And very very costly)

Hmm... you live in Denver don't you? :P BOTH those restaurants are on the 16th Street Mall. :D
Other expensive places Ari and I have been to would include:
Willie G's
Cafe Berlin
Sushi Han (because we also love sushi and it does add up Fast!)
And, of course, Cattleman's RANCH - the headquarters. *DROOL*

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
mine was Don Shula's in Key West. Ding for two was about $130.00, and the apple cobbler was made fresh just for us.
-
Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
Spent $900 at the Four Seasons in Chicago for 6 people without alcohol..... The meal was compted by the hotel as I had been there for 45 days working.

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
Morton's Steak House in minneapolis
$80 porterhouse split between me and my girl, on top of that we had oysters for an appetizer and a couple of side dishes, and some chocolate thing for dessert(can't quite remember, it was a few years ago)
It was FAN-TAS-TIC. We kept the steak bone to make soup with. Also, if you ever get a chance to see an $80 steak, I hope you're eyes bug out like mine did.. just incredible..
Another expensive but incredible restaurant I love is Fogo de Chao. $45 for all you can eat MEAT. They have gauchos bringing around huge amounts of meat, and you have a coin with a red side and a green side. Green side up means they stop by your table and offer you whatever it is they have.
Also there are delicious side dishes and a "salad bar"(the name hardly does it justice), and believe it or not that alone is worth $30 for a meal.
I probably ate $70 worth of meat, if we were eating out at any other restaurant.
God I'm hungry now, I need food!! off to dinner

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
Unfortunately, I don't remember the name, but it was in Colorado, on top of a mountain, and we had to take a ski lift to get there. I don't remember the exact amount, but I know it was in the hundreds for 4 people. Wouldn't really do it again.

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
I would say either P.F. Chang's (total bill for 3 was $120) or The Ranchers Club at Oklahoma State University, it's about $50 per person to eat there

You should make a thread about the whole experience in the off topic.
Oh yah I went to Texas-De-Brazil in Ft. Worth Texas it was $50 a person and it was worth every penny. The biscuit/roll thingeys were the best part.... well that is a lie it was all great. The only thing i did not like the whole evening was the lobster bisque and that doesn't count because i am not a lobster fan.
I can not wait to go back to Texas-De-Brazil

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
I live in Las Vegas, so nearly everywhere's expensive. We mostly stick to homemade, or the Outback/Chili's/Applebee's/Ruby Tuesday's, but every once in a while, we'll go down to the Strip and treat ourselves.
The most incredible place we went, and one that was completely worth the money was a little Moroccan place called Marrakesh http://www.marrakechvegas.com/(warning: musical website).
It's a small restaurant, but there are belly dancers that dance around to each of the tables, and they're beautiful and talented. I think we paid a flat $40/person for a 7-course meal that was absolutely delicious. By the time we had the meal, the wine, and the belly dancer tips, I think we spent $130 for my husband and me. Worth every penny, for the food and the experience. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. :D

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
There is a place in Austin, Texas called Jeffery's for a friends birthday. Went there 3 years ago and spent 350 for two people. They had great food and very nice place, but that was the last time I went there.

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
Well I once went to this really awesome little restaurant in Hull Quebec called Laurier sur Montcalm. One of the diners in our group described the mushrooms on his steak as transcendental. Everything was amazing and our server had to be psychic as our every need was met before we had a chance to verbalize it. I have no idea what it cost as my ex refused to let me see the bill fearing I would have a heart attack.
I also went to a place called The Steak House which is located in the Silver Reef Casino. It's a la carte so supper averages about 100 bucks per person, before drinks. Everyone we dined with had an excellent time, though service was significantly slowed by our 18 person party.
-
Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
The Oak Bar in Manhattan was kinda pricey....I think I paid $25 for like 6 chicken wings! That was lunch, and we went to a horror themed restaurant for dinner and drinks that set me back a good bit. Tangerine in Philly was about $130 or so for two of us (with drinks). Now i'm just happy to not order from the $1 menu! LOL

Re: Where is the MOST EXPENSIVE place you have eaten out at?
Hmmmm , a few years back I had a half day off work , called the wife ( who was also off ) asked her to meet at a local eatery for a coffee and a bite to eat , anyways whilst waiting for a table she spies this leather suite across the way in another shop , ended up buying it ...... cost ( in USD ) $6000...the most expensive coffee ever !!!!
I should have stayed at work ,lol
