Re: are these good markers
I can't say for sure from that pic but those do look kind of like some rings there. It's really hard to say for sure though and I believe most het pieds with markers have them closer to the cloaca but I could be wrong.
Remember though not all snakes with markers are het and not all hets have markers, the most important thing is to make sure that the genetics are certified somehow either with pictures of the parents and the breeding or with a signed certificate from a reputable breeder. I'm really wary about hets. I'm actually getting my first het this week, a het ghost and the only reasons I'm going for it is A) she was originally from 8ball and has a signed cert from Adam so I know she's legit and B) she was pretty much free (I'm getting a rack from the guy so he gave her to me for next to nothing lol). Good luck!
Re: are these good markers
thanks! if you look at the bottom of the pic (didnt notice it until you said something) it appears to have some solid black striping lower on the body. ill ask to see if he has pics of the parents.
Re: are these good markers
Do not buy an het based on markers only, markers are not 100% reliable some normals have similar markers found in some het pieds while some het pieds do not have any markers.
Buy hets from a REPUTABLE breeder that will guarantee the genetics.
Re: are these good markers
I'd be asking him to send you a picture of his pied on today's paper as better proof that he produced it - if he can't provide that, then I'd run.
Het pied males are very affordable these days from REPUTABLE breeders of all sizes. Go with someone with a proven track record, or that others have heard of.
Re: are these good markers
becareful, it looks to have scale problems.......
...or is that snake dripping wet?
Re: are these good markers
didn't even notice the scales.
Re: are these good markers
Just be careful when dealin with people like that.
Take robins advice. Pass on that grass, and get from a breeder that you trust.

This snake is dripping wet!!!
and by the way, i see no Pied-marker on that belly-shot
Re: are these good markers
I look for the black marks to be further apart with three belly scales between them, not just one. But if it's reported to be a 100% don't go by the markers go buy trusting the seller or not. I think the markers are mainly usefull for picking through possible hets and even then not a sure thing. Maybe this is a het without the typical markers or maybe it's a normal with something the seller thought could pass as the markers. It does seem to have unusual black striping on the belly just a little more close together than I see in my markered possible hets.
Re: are these good markers
Doesn't look like it to me, but that does not mean that it is not a het.
Re: are these good markers
One reason why markers are UNRELIABLE!
Buy from a REPUTABLE breeder, and unless this guy has references, i would steer clear.
Re: are these good markers
well i decided to skip on this. he said she was a problem feeder and is barely over 1000 grams and is a 06 female. i wouldn't breed her at that weight and the point was to put her with my friends pied so we could get some early 09. no biggie though. we are going to put his pied with my female norm and make some hets and then hit it a couple of years down the road. really wanted pied next year though.
Re: are these good markers
Save up and get one if you want a pied that bad. That's what I'm doing.
Re: are these good markers
Eh 2000 bucks for a pied or 1000 for a het pied. Tough call. Yeah I have to agree that saving up for an actual pied would be a better use of your money and you would be able to breed and get 100% pied offspring, or even just breed her to something else and get het pieds (which is where you want to breed to some morph, that's when you wind up with the coolest stuff and, personally, I want to see a piebald firefly :3 )
