Props to all you breeders
I am new to ball pythons, just bought my first last week, a nice female bumblebee. I have been searching the web for a male to pair up with my female bumble and I am blown away by the most amazing morphs of any snake species out there. I am 46 years old now and started collecting snakes when I was 14 and there was only one type of ball python, ugly. But you breeders have been out of your minds through the years I was on a snake hiatus do to raising my own kid. I picked the right time to come back and want to give all you breeders your proper due, it is amazing what you have accomplished with ball pythons. I have rosy boas living on my property here in Southern California and when I see them in my yard it now looks like a snake that was beat with the ugly stick, this for a snake that I use to think was the best of the best. So props to the breeders and to ball pythons, my new favorite snake.

Welcome to the dark side, let the addiction begin!! You can't just have 1 (or 2 or 12 or 30...):D
Post pictures of her when you get a second. What are you thinking about hooking her up with?
If you want to see some cool videos of some really, really cool snakes, check out Ralph's (the King) YouTube page....

Wow - you started off with a bang getting a bee as your first ball python! Congrats! We do need pictures - we love pictures around here!
I do have to defend the normals though - there are some amazing normals in people's collections as well! I love the original paint job on ball pythons, as well as the mutations!

Here is my first ball python, a female. You guys are right, I'm addicted. From reading all your posts, I am searching right now for either a Super Pastel or Lesser Platinum male to breed with her in a couple years. I have a feeling I am going to wind up with a house full. My wife loves them so I have no opposition.

*cat calls* Man... I wish I had the $$ to start off with a bee when I first got into snakes, lol. I'm having to go the long way about getting one, but i must say, the breeding part's just as exciting!
Beautiful girl!! I say either a lesser or an orange ghost so you can make honey bee's!

congrats and welcome :)
I don't suppose you'll get a whole lot of sympathy on the "normals are ugly" bit. This group tends to find stunning examples of every variety, and have love for even the most common ;)

Re: Props to all you breeders

Re: Props to all you breeders
Thanks for the nice comments on my first ball.
I will take back my ugly comment on normals, sorry about that. But what I was talking about are the first balls I use to see 30 years ago when I was 16. At that time, all the ball pythons I would see were wild specimens shipped in to the USA. Most wild pythons shipped in at the time were very dark, most had scars from living in the wild, they were not real beefy because they were malnourished, and they were just not the most attractive snakes. Looking at the normals of today and comparing them with what was brought in 30 years ago from the wild is a stark difference.

Re: Props to all you breeders
:rage::rage::rage:NORMALS ARNT UGLY!!!!!:rage::rage::rage: They are beautiful and natural and I love them! Not saying that if I could have started with a bee I would have been complaining. But normals are my favorite because they are the underdog and people don't appreciate them as much, But I do cause I think they are lovely. YAY NORMALS!!!
but in all honesty while I love normals, there is something about spider morphs and pied morphs.... they are soooo pretty and your bee is a perfect example!!! Congrats on a beautiful little girl!

We are practically neighbors, I am in the Poway/Escondido area of San Diego, east of Lake Hodges. Temecula is only 40 minutes due north of me.

How old is your bumble?? I'm on the verge of getting an 08 male. Trouble is i have to distance buy without seeing the animal in person, bit nervous, but there's not that many available in the uk at this moment, yours looks a belter (slang: great!) though:cool:

Calm down. He already explained why he said that. It was a good explanation at that.
