Never experienced anything like it...

So I wanted to take a shot of me with my two fave boys for my MySpace page, got the camera all set up, and I got out the two boys. However, within two minutes the whole scene went awry....Both are around 1000g males, and I placed them on the couch for a sec, and they immediately started to "wrestle" each other. I se[eareted them and was holding them in each of my hands. I couldn't figure out what was going on, so I started to get ready for the pic, and all they both did was thrash around (they've both never acted like this before...NEVER!!!). When I thought they'd settled down, I sat on the couch with both of them in my arms, then BOTH of them pooped on me!!! I think they totally HATED each other, and just wanted to get away from the whole scene!!! I think the poop part was a deterrent of some kind.....I have no idea what could have caused this very odd behavior. Never happened to me before. Anybody have any suggestions???

Male combat. They were fighting.

I second that - male combat between two sexually mature males.

Adult males will fight, some say breeding season makes that behavior stronger, that I dont know for sure, but they will battle.

Perfect example of why we tell people not to house them together... (I'm not implying that you do). They compete with eachother and are capable of doing battle.

Did you still take the picture? :rofl: Sorry... Its probably only funny if you don't get pooped on.

It's more funny, unless you were the recipient, LOL. I was showing my friends son my milk snake and she musked me really good. I didn't think it was funny, but those watching were in tears from laughter.

Thanks for the info guys. It wasn't funny, because Gambit pooped on me, and immediately after Khaoz did a "squirter" that went right on the carpeted floor. To make matters worse, I had did my hair all nice just for the picture, and after cleaning the boys up and myself the battery in my camera died!!!! So I just said **** it, and put the boys back in their tubs. Man was I pissed. I could totally understand the combat thing, but is pooping on each other part of the combat too???

Hey dont fret over that I had my 2700gram female go on me and it wasnt pretty. Mainly pee though. I was soaked. :mad: Also if someones got a vid of two males wrestling I have to see it im sure its not as funny as it is in my head but I wish I could share what imagining right now. I am imagining it to the song from cable guy (star trek ) when he is fighting in the mid evil times thing.

Cat's and dogs pee all over everything to claim ownership of territory, maybe male bps pooping goes along the same lines given the circumstance they were in. Just a guess!

They just wind their bodies around each other, and then try for a smack-down. It is kind of entertaining to watch. The winner is the stronger snake who can shove the other one down.

Considering the condition I find the bins in during breeding, it wouldn't surprise me if all the pooping and peeing is scent-marking behavior. That was my guess.

Snakes tend to poop as a result of being stressed. If you think about it, the muscles surrounding their guts are also the ones that they use to move around, for the most part. Any kind of action or general tension could really get things moving.


And i'm sorry - i know the OP must have been having one hell of a time, but reading this story made me laugh. ...a lot.

is that what it looked like? the condition those ball pythons are in are bad, but i noticed that they were fighting like you said so this was the only one fit.

Is it just me, or is that burning hot open light directly in the enclosure? That platform does a lot of good too, much better than putting hides in there...
