    New puppy!
So, last April I bought a puppy I found on Kijiji (basically a canadian craigslist) and I couldn't have been happier. Not a big breeder or anything, just a family who's 2 dogs had puppies. She is a german shepherd/border collie mix. I kept in touch with the family and all the other puppy owners and we even had a puppy reunion at the local dog park. Weeeell, on september 3rd, my dogs mother had ANOTHER litter! And guess what, yeah...we couldn't help it...we had to get another one, so here they are!

Layla is the first dog I got, and the new puppy, is Samantha.

Congrats. Now tell the people to get their dog spayed so she can stop getting pregnant and producing litters and litters of puppies in our already overcrowded world.

AWWWWWWWWww so cute! And I am also wondering why they don't get the dogs fixed if they keep having puppies and having to get rid of them online...strange

Cute!! They look a bit like my dog Daisy. I third the suggestion for them to get their dogs fixed. I bet there are even some low cost clinics that might be able to provide the service!

Oh no no no, it was all planned out. She only had just the 2 litters, and now the male is neutered.

They planned this? Planned to breed their mixed-breed dog on purpose? Smart people...

I'm not picking on you for your choice of dogs, as mixed breeds are often healthier and longer lived than purebreds and make great companions, but I just want to point out that these people would have been wiser to spay the female instead neutering the male as she will continue to go into heat and likely end up pregnant again. Dogs are dawgs too.

Hey, we'll they're not my dogs, and its not my decision. So discussing it here is irrelevant.

I guess posting pictures of my new puppy was a bad idea...sometimes you guys...you can really make someone feel like crap.

 It's not your fault. You did a GOOD thing and gave that pup a great home! Congrats on your new baby!

Sorry. That wasn't my intent. I was just observing that they neutered the wrong dog if they are trying to prevent having more puppies. I'm not even in the "every dog needs to be neutered" club. In a lifetime (56 years) of constant (2-3 at a time) dog ownership (plenty of them) all but two of mine have been male and none of those have been neutered. And all of my dogs have lived for years beyond their expected life span I might add. I am a bigtime dog lover.

Cute puppies! :DDon't feel bad for giving them a home. The owner of the female is not your responsibility. Looks like your new pup has taken up with her older sibling. Post more pics when you get a chance! They even look alike!:)

I work in animal adoption and with all the thousands of dogs needing homes, I just can't see why someone would try to justify breeding more mixed breeds, and in many cases purebreds as well.

I'm not blaming you for falling in love with this pup, both dogs are beautiful, and I'm sure you're a great owner. But yes, it is your fault for supporting a backyard breeder.

And if you should look into fixing all your dogs, not just for longevity but because behaviorally they are better pets.
