Look at your weather forcast. Best to introduce them like a day before a low front comes through. Also if he is not a proven breeder be ready for a lot of patience. It has been 21 days since we started introducing the males. 3 days on 3 days off two of the three pairings have locked every time. One pairing has not shown any signs of locking yet.

Proven male X unproven female = Lock :gj:
Unproven male X unproven female = lock :gj:
Unproven male X proven female = no signs :tears:

The white thing is a urate.

I use heavier bowls with my girls, stoneware. Something they can get a good wrap on, but still not tip it all over the place. Just a thought you may want to consider.

I'm by no means an expert, but if I remember hearing it correctly, during the breeding season in their native areas Humidity tends to be very high and rain tends to be a common occurance.

Just when your humidity is up make sure you pay closer attention to them as you don't want bacterial or fungal infections to start forming or viral infection to take hold. This is one of the reasons I believe a lot of people stress that you know your animal before trying to breed it!

I've heard that too. I've also read about people having success getting picky breeders to breed during a rainstorm - that could have a role as well...

Yep, that would be the reason some breeders will mist down the whole tub when they've got animals paired up.

He very well could have been trying to get into position or it could have been nothing. The best thing you can do right now is make a promise to yourself now. Here goes: "I will only check on my breeding snakes once every 24 hours by sliding out the tub and maybe 3 or 4 without sliding it out!"

If you really need to see everything front and center then you should get a display type rack or build one. They might not do anything for a couple of months, but relax if you only check on them once a day or so you will catch them in the act if they are doing something. :D I know it is hard, but it has to be done.

The odds are you will not miss anything, but even if you do miss a lock here and there they do normally lock multiple times during the breeding season. The odds of you missing every lock is slim to nill if you check once a day. You will probably go in at the end of a cycle of having them together just to find them locked! Then you have to wait for them to unlock before you move the little stud muffin.
