    California - San Fernando Fires
Raul and I were out today and I got a few pictures of the Porter Ranch fire. We have fires to the East and West of where we live. The winds are whipping and the smell of smoke is awful.

Those pictures are incredible. They look like something you'd see on the news. I can't believe you are so close to the fires that you could actually see that. Scary does not seem to be enough of a word! Take care and be safe. I'm sending good thoughts.

    :please:

Don't spend too much time outside! I was almost evacuated during the Santiago Canyon fire, it was pretty close to where I live. I got super sick from all the ash in the air, it was not fun :(

I know and the horrible train wreck a few weeks ago is only a couple miles away from the Porter Ranch fires.

Thanks all for your well wishes. We live at the base of the hills in the middle of a fairly large housing track so I don't see us getting in any trouble. We are more worried about the animals so we've pretty much locked ourselves in and are running several hepa filters. I do feel bad for our rats that are in the greenhouse because they are smelling it big time.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. We have 4 hepa filters going(I always have one in the snake room) so its feeling better in the house. I brought my tortoises inside too.

Be careful and stay safe...that smoke can be bad...

I remember last year before I moved, the smoke from the San Diego fires drifted all the way up to Long Beach...ash was coming down like snow, even that far away...

    More . . . California - San Fernando Fires
We are on fire . . . again! We woke up this morning to the smell of smoke and turned on the TV to see the hills above our house on fire. For those of you familiar with California we live in Granada Hills and the fires are about a mile away. We live deep in a residential area and don't have any open fields near us. The local High School one block over from us is an evacuation center.

Raul is out of town so I'm keeping tabs on the house. I'm not worried about our house but I feel so sorry for those that have lost their homes. This is called the Sayer fire and so far 165 homes have been damaged.

To top it all off it's over 90 degrees out and the winds are whipping like crazy!

I went outside to take a few pictures around 7:00 a.m. as the smoke started coming over the house.

It took 2 hours for us between San Bernadino to Chino... just to get from back from Vegas.

    The fires blocked EVERYTHING

It smells and its awful... :(

    Hope everyone is safe.

Sounds like the fires have moved close to where you lived in Diamond Bar? I hope everyone in your neighborhood is safe.
