Cruel people

Posted this guy on another forum a few days back and was basically told that this boa shouldn't even be alive, being a cross bred boa and all.

I assume he is a Bci x Bcc cross, a very lovely one at that. :)

See I don't see why people have such a problem with the hybrid/combo type things that are coming out. As long as you are honest with what you are producing and don't try to sell it as something it is not then there shouldn't be an issue! Me and one of my buddies have been working on a little hush hush hybrid project and we posted one teeny tiny little thing a couple weeks ago about it on another forum and we had people literally like lighting the torches and getting the lynching party together! It's crazy!

That's the problem though, not everyone is honest. There are plenty of people out there that will misrepresent an animal just to sell it. Then when that animal gets misrepresented, the unsuspecting buyer breeds it, and continues to sell it as a pure line because that's what he thought it was. Personally, I LOVE some of the hybrids out there, and there are definitely a few on my list of snakes I want in the future. I really don't plan on breeding them though, display only. ;)

That is nothing short of a gorgeous snake! I do have some concerns about hybrids mucking up pure blood lines...but I don't think there is anything morally or ethically wrong with creating or having them. It's just a shame that there will always be people out there who don't care about anyone else and will misrepresent them to make a buck.

He is a very handsome snake. Breeders should try to keep lines intact or represent their animals in an honest fashion.

Unfortunately as you have found not everyone is either honest or knows what they are breeding. Still a beautiful snake:gj:

Thanks for the nice words everyone. Had I known what he was years ago, I wouldn't have bought him. Simply because I too like pure bloodlines. But, I don't believe that a boa, dog or whatever should have his/her life taken away for being itself. Just how I see it.

Nice looking snake. I get the same crap with my dogs, they were an accidental litter from my husband's grandmother, and they just happened to be "designer dogs". Now I get all kinds of crap from people for supporting puppy millers by buying two designer dogs (I got them for free, and his grandmother made a big mistake, but now all of her animals are fixed, and she certainly isn't a puppy miller). Meh, some people honestly believe that if you don't do exactly as they do/believe you should do, then you're going to burn in hell and your animals should be dead. :/

Right! It's not a market that I go for, but as long as you are honest about it, then no beef with me.
