Re: favorite rack?
Reptile Basics. Rich is the man...Great guy and great product!
If you are going to build I suggest expanded PVC over super heavy Melamine.

Animal Plastics is great too.

I second the vote for RBI. Rich has great products and customer service.

Yeah I agree... I have a rack from Reptile Basics and it is fantastic! Not too bad price wise either...;)

Reptile Basics is the way to go for sure....We have over 1000 animals in Reptile Basics Racks and we have been super happy with the quality of them....:D

Re: favorite rack?
I build my racks from 3/4 mdf covered in plastic laminate, caulk all seams, really durable!

Re: favorite rack?
I am giving Jeff some props for his racks. I own a few of the Boaphile sweater box racks (15 drawer). His racks are built to exacting standards and offer belly heat via routed expanded polyethylene panels.
By far and wide the all time greatest rack system (IMO) if you have the money, space, and back for it is made by ARS.
I will probably purchase a few of the RBI racks to try them out. I love all of their products and the customer service is second to none.

Re: favorite rack?
Considering my location, Vision v70 rack is good enough as humidity is almost always between 50-60% and temp is 78-85F all the time in my snake room...

You can come to my house Peter :)

Re: favorite rack?
I love the ARS racks. Each level has belly heat, the tubs on the one I gave are a bit bigger than the loved 41 quart tubs, I love the built in water bowl holders. Absolutely no spills!
Definitely worth the money.

We have over a dozen Boaphile Rhino Raxx and I've been pretty happy with them until the last two I ordered. The flexwatt on those two bulges above the shelf surface causing the tubs to rub the flexwatt. It looks like the slot in the shelf is not wide enough to let the heat tape lay flat. :sigh2: :thumbsdow
We have a couple of Vision CB70 racks and one V35. One of the CB70 racks has Iris tubs and the other has Vision tubs. The Vision tubs are a lot sturdier and slide much easier than the Iris tubs. The biggest problem we have with the Visions is keeping the humidity high enough. We've started using cypress in those racks instead of newspaper and it's definitely helped.
We have a good many RBI racks and they're working well for us.
David, the reason I quoted your post was to say that I completely agree with your comments on the ARS racks. We recently purchased our first ARS rack and it is without a doubt the finest rack I've seen. :gj::gj::gj:

Re: favorite rack?
I built my own rack, since I don't like the shortness of the tubs in pro-made racks. Also, other racks are WAY too expensive for me!
I put up a pic step-by-step of building my rack on my website - Grove of the Magi (address is in my sig), but here it is. Still works great and is going strong. Now if only I could get the snakes to stop moving the thermometer probes so I could get consistent readings. :)

A few alterations have been made to it recently, such as covering nearly all the tons of holes I put in the tubs (yes, I went hole crazy...but it's easier to cover old holes than to make new ones) and adding some cool side hides. Another rack like this, but with some 'false' secondary floors to raise up some 10" high tubs for juvi BPs, is in the works.

Re: favorite rack?
I just bought the one on the left but its a very nice rack. Much better then the Vision to the right of it.

Re: favorite rack?
I have 3 RBI racks and a homemade melamine rack. I looove my RBI's and am picking up a couple more later in the month. The melamine, not so much. Can't say enough about RBI's. And for those in Ohio, you can pick up the RBI racks from Neil Golli at one of the shows :)

Yeah not a fan either. I know you need to seal it but still moisture and melamine are not friends. My rack is made outta a nice hardwood.
