Eventful Feeding night: punched in the face
haha, ok, soooooooo, there I am in the snake room, feeding. I began feeding, and made my way down the rack, until I got to one of my 06 girls, who IMO does not have the greatest feeding response. I have the f/t rat, held with hemostats, in my hand. I see her tub is slightly fogged up, and I cant really see where she's at in the tub. Her tub is a little lower than eye level for me, and as soon as I crack the tub to peek to see where she is, BOOM! she flys out, and close-mouth struck at my face and hit my square in the lower lip, hard enough that my lip hitting my teeth actually drew a little blood. Needless to say, it hurt a little, but mainly scared the freaking crap out of me! It was sore the rest of feeding, but I was laughing the rest of the time too.

    Just thought I'd share that.

Havent got tagged by my BP, but my Dogue De Bordeaux (French Mastiff) has knocked me out once, and split me open a few times when we went head to head playing. Needless to say, I lose that battle everytime

You might need to rethink your opinion of her feeding response. lol Either her feeding response is a whole lot better than you thought or she was just really glad to see you!
I hope you weren't hurt to bad.

Hah..amen to that! That could have been Sooo painful if she'd gotten you with teeth in feed mode!

Hearing this makes me glad I managed to duck my 1700+g girl the other day when I opened her tub for a water change. That's what I get for giving everyone smaller prey than usual last week

Re: Eventful Feeding night: punched in the face
I have the same type of girl. The most docile and gentle feeder. Just like one of our corns and totally unloke the other who is a MONSTER sometimes striking and coiling soo hard that the poor hopper will pop!
Well she missed her weekly feeding last week as she was in blue but this week I approached her viv with mouse on the tray and opened the lid to place it in and then cover it as always and she shot over and struk the mouse right off the tray out of my hands
scared the crap out of me...

I have one that does the same thing. First time scared the crap out of me and I fell backward on the floor. I laughed the rest of the night also; just glad she missed my face. Now when I feed her I duck under her tub to slide it out and let her fly like a jack in the box. I think she enjoys it as much as I do because I can see her in there waiting for the tub to open.
