**DANGER** Ball Pythons Are Contagious

So, This year I added three 08' female BP's to our family. And had no plans of taking in any more BP's until next year, at which time I planned on getting a male to keep them company. Well enter into the equation my soon to be fourteen year old Daughter. She decided for her Birthday, which is in two days, that she wanted a BP of her own. She has actually been talking about this for the last month now, and has been getting increasingly more excited about it as the days have gone by. Well lucky for Her and Me, Her Uncle who is also Her Godfather, breeds BP's. So about two weeks ago we went to look at some of his new hatch lings of which he had some Pastels and some Spiders. I told Her to pick out the one She liked the best and when She was done Her Uncle sexed it and She had picked out A very handsome Pastel male. So the girls have their boyfriend a little earlier then expected. I will post some pictures of him after he arrives and has time to settle in. :D

Ive been lurking around here for a while and finally got my first BP and im already wanting more. Id love a big family of BPs of all morphs.

Hope all goes well with the new addition. Are you going to be breeding your females someday?

lol The title of this thread threw me for a loop. Congrats on the new addition. Yeah I know they are contagious... I'm already planning on getting another.

Ahhhh, yes. It's an old story lol. I always laugh when I see someone say "I'm just going to have one" or "we're going to wait til next year to pick up any more." Then two weeks later they're posting pictures of like 17 new ball pythons :D. It happened to me! I got my first one at the beginning of this year and even though I said and (unfortunately because she won't let me forget it :D) told my girlfriend that "I was fine with just one" well........ 9 months later...... I have 6 ball pythons, 2 kings, and 8 corns lol. Congrats and make sure you post some pictures when he comes home!

Thanks for the well wishes. And yes I will be breeding the girls when they're ready. seems like a long wait.

Yea, But I am putting my foot down this is the last one, Until the next one. :D

There have been soooooo many times where I have had my credit card or paypal info entered and ready to click "confirm" to buy BPs online, or about to call someone from fauna or KS to tell them "ship me that BP!". More than I can even count. I had to use the force to keep me from going through with it! I was planning on going to Tinley Park this coming weekend, but even though it makes me sad, I decided I can't go because I guarantee I'll end up putting a Ghost and a Mojave on my credit card and that would be BAD NEWS BEA... er PYTHONS!

When I got my first girl, I said 'Ok, I have a BP, I'm happy now.'

Of course, then I figured since I was getting rodents I might as well get another snake, so I added a corn.

This progressed into me deciding that I would love to breed BPs to get the two morphs I REALLY want but can't afford, and to possibly get a bit of return on electric bills and such. So... now I have 8 BPs, 5 corns, and my BF (who started out saying he didn't want to have anything to do with snakes) has an MBK. :)

I think I'm getting hives now...

They are addicting, but being broke helps to slow the addiction. I've got plans to get a male spider next year, hopefully I'll be able to save up enough money. I might add a second normal female eventually, but plan on keeping my collection small until I've got a place of my own (still living with the parents).

we have gotten 7 this year and we are planning on getting 1 in nov and one in feb. my wife is my controller if it were up to me i would have like 2 or 3 more each month lol. but she asures me the more rats we breed the more snakes we can get we are tired of spending more money on buying rats each month than we do on feeding us lol.

lol.. they should come with an "addiction warning" label. I was only going to get a 100% het pied pair so that I could get my dream morph of a piebald. so they went on a payment plan. then I saw an ad for a free normal male.. so I got him, (he has no alien spots at all!!!). Then I saw an ad for pastel babies and got one.. so now, 9 bp's later (within a years time frame) I'm planning on what I'll be getting next year. hubby thinks I'm nuts but he indulges me because it makes me happy.

what does this mean ->
1.1 normal ball
1.1 spider ball
1.0 pastel ball
1.1 het albino red tail
1.0 albino red tail

Hi,

It indicates the sex of the animals. :)

It goes Male.Female.Unknown so if you had one definate female and on you havent sexed yet it would be 0.1.1

And if you had a definate male and female you would leave off the unknown one mostly and just write it as 1.1 :)
