    Keyword in breeding is PATIENCE.

It is still very early in the season, be patient, also you will not always witness a lock, sometimes you will right away during the first 24 hours sometimes it will happen later it varies.

Just keep pairing throughout the season and remember to give your animals some good rest in between.

First pairing and nothing doing isn't that strange, give it time and keep at it.

yeah im not gonna cause any undue stress, im gonna do the 3days on 3 days off cycle, do u think this is enough? im gonna gradually lower my temps over the coming month until the nightime hotspot is in the low 70's and then keep it like that at nighttime for the remainder of the breedin season or until i get any gravid females, does this sound ok?

also another question, i have removed the hides whilst they are paired up, will it be ok to pop them back in for their 3 day rest?

Is it enough? ... That depends ... health and vigor of the male, health and vigor of the female ... are they laying together, are they laying apart, are they eating, how low your temps are getting, etc.

3 on, 3 off is a good start ... if you're not catching the male actively courting after a couple of attemps, pair less and rest more until he gets into the groove. If you see a lock, give a long rest and try again. If your male is just going with one girl, 3 on and 7 off is even better.

If the snakes continue to eat, leave the hides out ... if they stop eating, try putting them back in.

There's no one that can tell you what will work best for your snakes ... you're going to have to do a lot of trial and error and figure that one out. It's a lot of fun to learn what their little "quirks" are ... you're in for a great first breeding season!!! :D :sweeet:

Hey I struck out my first couple of times too. My snakes on the other hand have had better luck:D

On a serious note, I have found younger males or first timers need a few visits before they get going. Be patient, it will happen:snake:

I put my first male in with a female about a week ago and they locked in the first 24hrs and were pretty much locked everytime I checked in... Since he seems to be getting the job done I kept him in for 3 days and gave him a weeks rest. This is my first yr breeding and like others have said just play it out as it goes and make tweaks down the road. Good luck!!
