Ran into a bump...
Hello, as some of you know im trying to do a deal with a guy named Jason Pacheo. I am buying a sub adult bee and sub adult lesser pastel from him, both females, and so far everything has gone smoothly( other than a few bumps on my part with waiting on pay pal stuff). His references and Bio and looked good and i have checked them both out by emailing the people who he gave me ( Brock Wagner being one, which to me that was pretty good) Now, everything is paid for and this is where the problem starts, he emails me saying that he can ship this week using DHL, or I can wait until he is FedEx certified. Now, this irks me off a little bit. DHL is HORRIBLE where I live, over night could turn into 2-3 days, so that is a huge no. Or I could wait for him to be certified, which he says he has sent his test box in a week ago. I would have loved to know this before everything started, now I have the option to either wait, or give him a 1 1/2 weeks to get these to my front door and if not i'll ask for my money back. What do you think I should do, and how should I email him about my concerns?

Re: Ran into a bump...
What's his location? Maybe if he lives in the same area as Brock Wagner or someone else who is certified that he knows...they could ship the snakes for him? :confuzd:
Sometimes ya just gotta wait.

Re: Ran into a bump...
if you trust him to stand up to his end, since he has a couple good referances... what harm is there in waiting? Both snakes are subadults, so they aren't breeders that you'd need to get through quarentine to breed this season right?
I'd let him feed and clean up after them until he got certified. You always have the DHL as a last chance option if you decide you REALLY have to have those snakes instead of a refund.
Maybe you should ask if you get any perks since you'll wait?

These are 1000g females so there is a good chance they will be getting paired up in a few months. Im just saying I really wish I would have been told this before. It just sorta sends off the natural warnings you have sometimes. Its just when I order a snake I want it soon and not be notified that i'll ahve to wait. There is no way id use DHL for the health of the animals!

Re: Ran into a bump...
is the same deal elsewhere? or if you back out of this deal, is there a chance that you'd wait for 1 1/2 weeks before finding the same deal from someone else?
If it's only a 2 week maximum wait, then I'd say wait it out and give him a chance to make it happen. Like it was mentioned above - What's the rush?
Sure, I agree with you - it would have been nice to know who his shipper was before all of this - but on the flip side, shouldn't that have been one of your first questions while inquiring?

Re: Ran into a bump...
Why not ask him if he's heard of Reptster? No need to get certified when shipping through them. :)

well Chris 1000 grams is a bit light but keep in mind people are still getting eggs this late in the season and 300-500 grams is possible in 4-7 months if the animal doesnt go off feed

Well, I can tell you that none of my females who are 1000 grams right now will be bred this season - I plan to wait another season. I'd rather wait a season and get more eggs, than rush and get maybe 3 or 4 eggs at most. But that's how "I" have chosen to do it. I'd much prefer my girls be at or above 1700 grams at this point in the season.

Re: Ran into a bump...
These are going into their third winter, and im not expecting to pair anyone up until they are in the 1300-1500 gram range, and if they eat for me I'm expecting to start breeding late season

Some of my 1000 grammers are in their third winter - so they are being held back until next season - they were my stubborn feeders, and now are eating with gusto. Even if they get up to weight, I just feel better giving them even that much more time to bulk up! :)

Re: Ran into a bump...
They are going to be shipped out tomorrow, so I will keep everyone updated on how it gos.

Re: Ran into a bump...
Snakes have been shipped out
-
Re: Ran into a bump...
How were they shipped? Reptster?
-
Re: Ran into a bump...
Well, he told me if he was not certified by now( last week) he was going to ship through repster, which I think he did because he said he was waiting on repster supplies. Either way it was through FedEx so now its just a waiting game to see if the snakes I ordered come.

Re: Ran into a bump...
Snakes came! God, this stuff is giving me grey hairs!

Re: Ran into a bump...
Glad you got your snakes! Nothing worse than making an error in judgment at your own expense.
So, now, can someone tell me what REPSTER is? I have been out of the loop for a little while now, but I'm back & trying to catch up...

Sorry just read you post. Reptster is a website that you can use to ship through. They have a FedEx portal on their site. You do not have to be a FedEx certified reptile shipper to ship if you ship through their site. You also save 40% on your shipping. You really can not beat that. I have shipped with them many times, and have never had any issues. Repster has also saved my customers a lot of money with their discount.
Hope this helps.
