Kids weird me out... :)

I am not huge on kids. I don't mind them, and I tend to be fond of the ones (not all) that I am related to.

But I love people that are really into kids and spend the time actively parenting. I mean that with all my respect.

But... there is this schoolground near my house that is being rejuvenated, and it is just amazing. They added a hill with a flat top to it, lots of trees, bushes, a community garden. All sorts of great things. Already I see it being used in the evenings by families, and lots of kids playing there independently.

They jsut added the last phase, which was patterned colored gravel to it... shapes, colors, sizes, etc. that supposedly will stimulate those young minds.

And tonight I went by and thought I would stop as I saw these 4 kids, 2 girls and 2 boys playing, probably between 7-10 years of age... and they looked to be having a great time.

I got closer and realized the new stones were indeed a great hit with the kids, and they were indeed being stimmed... with all the options available to them, and many of them very novel items, they had opted to spend the evening throwing handfuls of rocks at each other.

*meh* kids... whatcha gonna do?

one 10 year old boy to another:

"I'm bored"

"Me too"

"Wanna fight?"

"Sure!"

And then the parents wonder why the boys come home bruised with bloody noses and no explanation. I guarantee you this happens every day across the country.

Aren't we a clever species?

Imagine what we had as kids; cement blocks with iron poles rising out of them; jungle-gyms 2 stories tall that contributed to at least 1 or 2 broken limbs per year; no padding what-so-ever; if paint was used it was probably led-based. How did we ever survive to become creative adults?

Lol....I love kids. My daughter just called me from her dad's house and asked if we could take her camping next weekend. Somehow we all survive....

Mhm, it sure did happen when I was a kid. But then again I just chucked the rock at someone's head and waited for them to say something. Geesh I was demented.

My daughter has such an active imagination she makes me step back and wonder what the heck goes on in her little head. :weirdface

Not to mention all the weird stuff that comes out of their mouths. :O

My son was stuck with a bunch of younger girls invading our house. The girls were all being fairies and flitting around.... my son was stalking/hunting them. :ohmygod: :rolleyes:

Everyone was so worried he'd be bored with all those girls, but nope he figured out a way to play with them. Stranger yet, the girls thought it was a great game! :weirdface

We always had acorn wars....!

We had chesnut wars. Ya know the chesnuts with the little balls with spikes on them that stuck to your foot when dried out? Oh YEA! Those rocked!

I had a lot of adventures as a child... some good ideas... and other not so good ideas... when looking back I'm surprised I didn't kill my little brothers and sisters. (my guinea pigs for many very stupid ideas.)

The more things change, the more they stay the same!
Todays kids will do the same silly/stupid stuff we did when we were bored; there is nothing better than the imagination of a child.

OMG. I read this post, and thought, did I post that? LOL. My best friend warred with my 2 cousins with pinecones once; we had the whole basement set as forts, foxholes, etc. using shelves, boxes, and the bar (yeah, we had a bar in the basement.. redneck..) lol; good times!

my friends and I were more hi-tech. We shot at each other with bb guns.

I'm not huge on kids but I have to admit I think my little brothers rock x)

When there not arguing, they'll be running around the house, toy guns in hand, making realistic sound effects and there very own theme music.

'ch-ch BOOOSH - dunn dunna nuna! NUNA NUNA DUNNA! BEGINNNNNNN!!!"

They even role play mini battles and wars.

"SEE HOW HE HIDES BEHIND THE BUNKER?!"
"YEAH! LOOK WHAT HE SEES: -sound effects--gun noises- HE'S TAKING THE GUNNER!"
"Yeah! FIRST I GOTTA LAUNCH A WEAPON...."


So much better than cable TV :D
