    New BP and care.
    Hey guys,
After 2 years going off and on with my parents and two years of research i finally got my ball python a couple days ago from the best pet store. They get there ball pythons from a local breeder and if they dont feed they dont put them on sale until the snake guy can get them feeding again. I was going to purchase a beautiful pastel ball python but to make sure it was healthy one of the girls offered to feed it to see if it was taking mice, unfortunatly it didnt. They had some wicked normals that were a bit older so i took a male(not sure if it is) home and the lady said they feed on fridays which was the day i got him so i was like what the heck if he doesnt feed its because hes stressed. The guy took it no problem after only hours of owning him! He seems comfortable already in his large 30 gallon. My hot side is 94 is that too high? Also i put a heat lamp on the cool side to raise the temp to 80 and put tinfoil over the rest so it traps in the heat. Is it ok if i have a heat lamp(ceramic heat emitter) on the cool side?

lower the hot side to 91-92 degrees and keep the humidity around 60 percent til shed then bump it to 70 percent

thats as low as it goes for temp, humidity is at 50 which is in the perfect range so no worries for that.

I would ditch the log hides and get enclosed hides.

Read the sticky on glass terarium it will help you tremendously.

    Just my .02

Wicked little snake good luck and have fun

94 should be as high as it goes not as low as it goes. Do you have anything to control the temps?

BTW, I think you should get rid of the glossy paper under the log hide. Some substrates/textures irritate them.

    Beautiful snake!!
I think it will be really tough trying to control the temps in a tank with a rheostat.... Have you considered purchasing a thermostat instead?

Yea im going too but i have to get one shipped. Yea hes real hardy and comfortable too he already lets me rub his chin and touch his head (if i do it slowly and calmly :P) I have a heat emitter on the cool side so it says around 80 all of the time but my humidity drops low quickly on that side so i always have to mist it
