Fun Start to My Day - Vent
So, Karl woke up this morning coughing so badly he started to hyperventilate, and his bronchial tubes started closing, so I rushed to Walmart to get a bronchial inhaler for him at 4:30 this morning.

Atlanta also has a horrible fuel shortage, so I passed a gas station that finally had gas (and a LONG line) and got the inhaler home to him, made sure he was ok, and ran up there to be in line for my gas. Got my gas, came home and then jumped into Karl's SUV and went back up and went through the line again to fill his up. Finally finishd both of our cars by 6 a.m.

Just in time too, because they're saying now that the supply stations that the tankers fill up at are now out of gas.

I'm sick of this not knowing whether I'll be able to find enough fuel to make it to work and back! It's pretty dreary here in Atlanta! :(

Then I get home and Karl goes - you coming back to bed? I'm like "I'm awake now - I guess I'll just take a nap later today".

I'm glad Karl is feeling better. Sometimes it also helps if you stick your head in the freezer. I've slept outside on the back porch some nights when my daughter's cough was so terrible. The cold night air was the only thing to help her.

I'm sorry you guys are having such trouble with those gas shortages. I know we had a bit of that and price gouging when Ike (was that the name of the last hurricane? I'm too tired to look it up) came through.

Karl did say that AFTER he said thank you right? :giggle: You're such a sweetie to run out get him some meds AND fill up his car. I was going to say you got him gas, but that just doesn't sound right.

Sorry for the incoherent rambling. I'm working on a couple hours sleep, and 4 children still hyped up from yesterday's birthday cake. (although it was an awesome cake, if I do say so myself)

that sux Rab, nice that Karl has such a considerate partner.

Being one the wakes up unable to breathe, and wakes up next to someone that cannot breathe, I understand it from both sides.

    It is the worst!

Here's hoping things stabilize a bit for you in the next while (and enjoy your nap!).

Aww Im sorry Robin, I know what you mean by all the gas shortages in GA, its getting way out of hand! When I finally found gas I just filled up my tank because who knows if we are going to run out, which is happening. What was causing all of this in Karl?

Sorry to hear you're day didn't start off great but here's to hoping it gets much better for ya. Think on the bright side, you don't have to worry about gas for at least a couple of days and Mr. Karl is feeling better.

Raul has asthma so I know the panicky feeling of trying to make sure he feels better and can breath!

    Good thought coming your way!!!!

Its horrible, as soon as a gas station does get gas it is gone within hours, and the lines behind it is traffic blocking! When driving I have yet to see more than two stations with gas. At Kroger they had just gotten gas so I called people to let them know, and by the time they got there they were already out.

That's horrible, Robin! What a fun morning you had! Hope Karl is doing better! I've never had probs breathing but I can imagine that I'd be freaking out!

On a side note, I don't pay much attention to the news- why is there such a shortage in GA?

It's not all of GA - it's metro Atlanta and the surrounding areas. The EPEA has restrictions on our fuel, that it has to be "low sulfur" to reduce smog in the summer.

They lifted the restrictions on an emergency basis early last week, so that we can now get "dirty fuel" and not our "special" fuel, but the damage has been done, and recovery is slow. They say it could be a month before we stop seeing lines and outages reminiscent of the 70's.

That's pretty strange. You can't buy any gas down there and ours has just dropped to $3.47 per gallon up here.

So sorry to hear about your rough morning. One thing that helps asthma is a steam. It breaks up the flem and allows it to be coughed up and clears the airways. Either a pot of boiling water or a hot shower can be helpful. The best thing would be to see a Doctor and get a perscription for an albuetrol inhaler instead of an over the counter primatine inhaler. I'm not sure which one you got but the perscription one is safer and more effective and feels like a life saver.

Hope my buddy Karl is doing much better:)
My thoughts are with you guys!

Wow sorry to hear about the bad start to your day Robbin.. We're having a gas shortage in NC and SC too. So I feel you on the waiting in line for gas.. I've seen a couple of fights break out over it.. I was running out of gas last week and I went to the front of the line.. I asked the people in the front and they said go ahead. Well another guy towards the back got mad.. He gets out of his car and starts mouthing off.. LOL Well I mouthed right back.. He takes a swing at me.. He missed and I put him on the ground. The station attendant came out and everything calmed down.. The other people around were saying it was not ok to just make somebody run out of gas waiting . But some people don't care about others.. Oh and the guy had 3/4 of a tank.. LOL I would've let someone about to run out in front of me.. Especially if I had 3/4 of a tank.. LOL
