    Making a webpage??? Help anyone.

well if you dont know anything about writing html then i suggest you start with microsoft front page. I have several websites that i update, but when i first started doing them i wrote my own basic html. BUT Front page is much much easier.

Do you have your own web space? Most cable/dsl companies that provide you internet service has about 10 megs worth of space that you can use for free, without advertisments. If you go through geocities etc then more than likely you'll have ads on your page.

If you need anything else let me know.

I would learn some baisc HTML and CSS. Do you know how to use photoshop? You can make really nice designs using that.
Most of the free hosting sites have lots of adds and don't give you a lot of storage space. If you have the money, I would buy a domain and some server space.

Chris, get a domain name (about $10 a year) and try some of the free or basic (about $12 month) space from someplace like Yahoo and they have a pretty simple program to make a page. I made Raul's page with Microsoft Frontpage (and it's not very good) but since I've purchases a Mac and plan on trying one of their programs as soon as I have some time.

    Hope this helps!

Getting your own domain is probably your best bet.
If you need help with web design let me know, I have been making sites since I was 11, haha.

    w3schools.com - HTML
    w3schools.com - CSS

Think of HTML as the site's bone structure. It's the core structure of your site. Think of CSS as the skin - it's what gives the site it's appealing appearance :)

Maybe I'm just odd, or maybe it's just because I originally learned to write html using notepad way back in the day... but I usually find myself hand coding everything in Dreamweaver. It all comes down to how much control you want over the source of your page. It's a bit of a learning curve to do straight html/css, but in my opinion it's worth it in the end. Nevermind the fact that I'm currently ready to start banging my head against the wall from working on mine. ;)

If you are thinking about godaddy, I'd redirect you to www.1and1.com instead. I was told they are a lot better than godaddy and so far I'm loving them. Very reasonably priced and their webbuilder program makes it very easy to get a basic webpage up in a day. Nothing super fancy but it suits my needs just fine. :)

    2 things

    1. Godaddy rocks. Customer service is top notch .. been working with them for 3 years now.

    2. www.joomla.org. Try it out. It has a lot of backing from a large community, and is great for both novice and advanced users. You have as much or as little control over the CSS and HTML as you want, or you can just stick with the basics of the core program and add your info.

You can get your own domain on GoDaddy for $9.99 a year and either host your site for free (with ads) which is great if you just start out and once ready you can use their hosting services which will cost you less than $5.00 a month.

I have been using go daddy for sometime now and they have great customer service and great products.

I know next to nothing about it. I was able to set up a free web page with google.
It's not the greatest. Someday I will have to get a domain name and get a better web site, for now this was free, and pretty easy.

I really love working with HTML and CSS, but I'm so out of practice it's hard to jump right back in to it again. I've forgotten A LOT of stuff lol.

Once you wrap your head around the way HTML works, you'll find it a lot easier to think in terms of html and how to create web pages.

I think coding is fun, it's so set and logical (sometimes not though and thats frustrating), but it's like a big puzzle all the time that you work through and I love those sorts of things.

Some places like coffeecup have a drag and drop web builder, it is pretty easy to use and very functional.

No thoughts on this. I have my collection, gallery, and terms of service pages but all are blank so I didnt bother. I also learned while making this that HTML code really isnt that difficult. Yay for learning new things.

give Joomla a go man .. I am telling you .. for the novice is give you a page fast and easy, and professional looking (more so than hacked HTML). For the pro is has a lot of advanced features so it can grow with you and your business/collection.

The best pieces of advice you can get! Even if you dont want to start with a blank page google for some free templates and go from there. Dreamweaver and knowing html/css is what you need to know :)

Also when you buy a webhosting package and get cpanel you get a website builder, its not great but works.

chill3 is the coupon code for godaddy for $6.95 domains

I use www.synthasite.com. It's a really quick easy way to make a website 100% free. The only catch is that you have to have their name in your website name. For example my website through them is: www.undergroundrattery.synthasite.com

I don't mind it because it's free, but it's all up to you.

EDIT: I just read a bit more an see that you made one! I like the screen shots! It looks really nice!
