Just took the mojave to be euthanized.
I came home and found his eye POPPED out!
No, I don't know why. I'm so freaking upset right now. I had to euthanize the two hatchlings due to deformaties, and then today Jarvis.
He was the only one of my mojaves to get any size on him too, so I was hoping he'd be able to make me some neat babies, and now he'll be dead.
What the heck did I do to pee in the Powers that Be wheaties?!
I'm so sick of all of this, I swear. It's so unfair, I spend half my free time cleaning and feeding and checking and adjusting temps, and getting quality feeders, and I feel like I've been killing snakes for the past months.

Re: Just took the mojave to be euthanized.
Do the vets know WHY it popped out? Isn't there some sort of parasite that can cause popeye?

Re: Just took the mojave to be euthanized.
Aww Theresa, how awful! I wish there were words that would help but there really aren't. Just a horrible situation. I hope things turn around soon for you, you've had far more than anyone needs to deal with lately with the snakes.

Re: Just took the mojave to be euthanized.
I'm so sorry... I hope things get better for you soon! Karma my dear Karma! Something good is comming!

Re: Just took the mojave to be euthanized.
:O Could the vet not just remove the eye and stitch it closed? They can live just fine with one eye.
Regardless of what you feel is the best thing to do (you're there and I'm not, so I have no idea if my thoughts are useful)....I wish you all the best. I'm still feeling like a schmuck for losing my dear Kisasa...and it wasn't even my fault. But still...she was ultimately my responsibility and now she's gone....so yeah.....even when it's out of our hands, I know how much it still hits hard.

Re: Just took the mojave to be euthanized.
Apparently he had a infection in his mouth, but not in the front. It went into the sinus area, and so was behind the eye. The pressure must have pushed it out. With the amount of infection, surgery digging around in the infected area, the chance that he would survive was very low. So I would have had major expense, Jarvis would have been in a lot of pain, and probably would have died anyway. I chose to end his pain immediately, rather than try a surgery.
I'm just really upset over it. It seems as if I can't win for losing.

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear about that...
That's a really sad situation. Does the vet know what caused the infection?

Sorry that this has happened.

Re: Just took the mojave to be euthanized.
No reason for the infection, just sort of a mouth rot I'd assume. Thanks guys. I'm considering selling a lot of the snakes off actually. It's been really rough lately.

Re: Just took the mojave to be euthanized.
The pythons are all in racks, with proper temps and humidity(occasionally the humidity rises, but I try to keep it down, I never ever had issues shedding!).They are on newspaper substrate, and I plain don't know why the mouth rot happened(if it was mouth rot, and not a infection that dropped into the mouth, instead of mouth rot that went up into the head).
My job stuff is unrelated, just happens to be happening at the same time. My boss wants to shut down the shop, and jobs around here are so scarce, especially for fat ugly old chicks who haven't done anything BUT pet grooming for 17 years. It's just very stressful.
Thanks for all the well wishes and offers to help. I'm still trying to find out about the job situation, and finances, before I make any decisions. I'm also trying to decide if I want to sell off a lot of the pythons. It's just been hard on me, since I get attached to every single one of my pets, scaley or furry.

Find out if there is a way to get a list of the shops clients (or if possible start getting their names and phone numbers when they come in, if the shop does not keep files). If he shuts it down maybe you could start working for some of them on the side (or use the client list to get a job at another groomers).

Re: Just took the mojave to be euthanized.
The client list belongs to the shop. Stealing a client list is a sue-worthy event. Would not matter if the shop closed or not. Thanks for trying to help, though.
I have a interview tomorrow. Holding thumbs that it's a nice place.
