WARNING -- Possible Scam -- JSReptiles
Some very shady circumstances have come to our attention regarding a member known as JSReptiles. After quite a bit of investigating, we are certain something fishy is going on. And due to a high traffic of Private Messages with a variety of our members, we felt it necessary to get this information out as soon as we could.

It was brought to our attention that there were two identical business sites set up...same basic templates, exact same pictures, exact same wording.....except there were two different business names AND two different personal names associated with these two sites.

    JSReptiles -- Jack Spears:
    http://www.freewebs.com/jsreptiles/index.htm

    rollinsgotherps -- Jacob Rollins
    http://rollinsgotherps.webs.com/aboutus.htm

One of our admins (rabernet) sent a PM to JSReptiles to inquire about this curious oddity. Later that evening (Sept 23rd) when JSReptiles logged on and read rabernet's PM, the rollinsgotherps site suddenly vanished from the 'Net. (As you will see, that link is now broken)

But we got a couple screen shots before it disappeared...
    https://ball-pythons.net/images/asun...m/GotHerps.jpg

    https://ball-pythons.net/images/asun...lesaboutus.jpg

    https://ball-pythons.net/images/asun...rpswelcome.jpg

    https://ball-pythons.net/images/asun...leswelcome.jpg

When JSReptiles answered rabernet's PM, he said the rollinsgotherps site was a complete rip-off of his own site. He said he had notified the owner and was in the process of trying to get it removed from the 'Net.

However...a closer look at JSReptiles's site revealed this:

    https://ball-pythons.net/images/asun...cam/gotcha.jpg
Which clearly shows that the images being used on JSReptiles were being hosted by rollinsgotherps.

Both of these guys claim to be from Ohio. Both IPs show them to be from the Dayton area and are off only by a couple of digits. Both use .aol e-mails to register for this site.

Both have recent threads on Fauna. (Which this notice will shortly be attached to as well) Notice the people starting both these threads are also from Ohio and only just registered this month, which is exactly when this person suddenly bursts onto the scene. Please also notice the similarities with LAWReptiles and company (also from Ohio in the Dayton area) and how those threads intertwined. Make of that what you will.

    "Jack Spears"
    http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...d.php?t=117501

    "Jacob Rollins"
    http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...d.php?t=116921

Where the same guy who started the "Jacob Rollins" thread also supported one of LAWReptiles's aliases.

Thanks for goin all "Grissom" on em! I hate scammers. It makes me not want to order animals from the net at all. There are of course a few sources (Adam, BHB, VPI and a few others) that I will not hesitate to buy from. I stumble around KS every day and see things I like, but because of people like this i'm afraid to make a purchase.

I would also like to point out and thank Eddie Strong (Wh00h0069) for bringing this to my attention. As I told him last night, the staff is very grateful for the community here that looks out for each other. We can't always be all places at once, so contacting a staff member about something that seems suspicious helps us jump on suspicious activity more quickly.

Each of YOU play a vital role here - so thank you once again!

    On another note...

A lot of these scammers that are being figured out don't want to spend money to make money - They're using these free web hosts that they can easily create multiple free web sites with false information. Free web sites - for me - are red flags.

    Note # 2.
The images that he stole were not watermarked. We urge you all to protect yourself and this hobby - Watermark your images with your name or company name.

The problem with this is that there are too many other sites that don't allow watermarked pictures because they consider them to be advertising. Unmarked pictures can be used on any site that I go to.

Well, so far the stolen images we've identified on this site have been taken directly from breeder's sites...where they certainly could have water marked.

Free sites don't always mean a red flag. I use a freewebs account until I can get a real website.

There are a lot of scammers lately. I'm glad that they are being found out though. I'm going to start watermarking all my images.

Re: WARNING -- Possible Scam -- JSReptiles
Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention, BP.net staff!! You guys really do go above and beyond the call of duty on this. Sometimes I'm just blown away by how far you go to protect the community--thank you! Also, one warning sign that I tend to notice is when the website/seller uses bad grammar, misspells a lot of words (especially when they misspell the name of a morph or species) and use improper capitalization.

I know it seems petty, but I think that most big breeders will take the time to make sure their website is written out nice and neatly, whereas a scammer probably wouldn't want to take the time to do it. Just like this guy didn't bother writing out two separate pages, but just copy-pasted the info from one website to the other.

I'm glad this guy got caught!

Here is the BOI thread in progress regarding the ongoing issues BPNet staff have been finding.

    http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...d.php?t=117501

So far we have Jack Spears and Jacob Rollins now associated with the whole LAWReptiles mess as well as numerous provable instances of stolen pictures from various breeder sites (some with the watermark removed). The BOI thread will be updated as more evidence is unearthed.

I would be very careful of the shows you attend in Ohio and the surrounding area, as this person and all "its" aliases all trace back pretty much to the Dayton, OH area.

Without a doubt it is the same guy. We've been watching him since he popped on with his first post yesterday. I was actually reluctant to go to bed because I just KNEW he would suddenly have a morph-filled website and be hitting someone up for sales before morning....and sure enough....

So yeah...same guy. He's banned (again) from this site.

Thanks, I also hope that someone who he has scammed will take legal action against this guy. He has to be stopped. He is not going to stop until the law comes down on him.

geez...and hes lazy as heck too! A couple pages in on that link...the picture he stole from Ralph Davis with a group of pieds, were his logo was right at the side of the bottom two....he didn't even edit out the dang points of the crown that overlapped the snakes! COMEON!!

Thanks for exposing the [exploit-deleted]. You guy's are amazing. If I ever decide to try to buy from someone less known, I will definitely post on here to see if anyone has any experience with them. Most likely though, Ill just stick to the big breeders, or shows.

Nice detective work. Scammers need to be drawn and quartered.
I only buy from people after a little bit of research. And I have yet to ever do a real trade. So I don't know who would actually ship first. There needs to be some kind of 3rd party involvement for oversight.
And just because its a frewebs account does not mean its a scammer. I have a couple freewebs accounts that i just made because i was bored. Im still learning how to make a web page and when i get better ill get a real pay site.

You are correct. I am sorry.

I would also like to apologize to the person that has this site. If you are a member here I am sorry for wrongfully accusing you of being a scammer.
