That means he carries the gene to produce an albino ball python when bred to another gene carrying snake.

Het stands for Heterozygous which means he carries half the genes needed to produce an Albino or in genetics terms Homozygous Albino. :gj::gj:

    Congrats

Oh thanks! Yeah, the man did say that. The gene isn't dominate though, cuz he's all dark brown and cute! (heheheh he's turning two weeks!)
Wait...(sorry for my inexperienced-ness) is Ball Python a breed? It is, right?
    Sorry! Thanks!

I got this wrong so I had to change it
Boidae is the family, Genus is Python, species is Ball Python I guess you could say Albino is the breed. I guess.
Been 10 years since I's classified animals.

Wouldn't 'albino' be the morph or mutation?...

There's no such thing as a poisonous snake. There are venemous though, and ball pythons are not.

Ball Pythons (or any pythons) are not venomous.

You should click around and read the care sheet here and it will answer many of your questions.

If there is anything else not covered be sure to ask :)

Probably a little after the fact, but if anyone was insistent on referring to snakes as "breeds", I would call the species ball python the breed, and the albinism is a variation.

    Ex:

You can have black labradors, white labs, and chocolate labs....but they're all of the same 'breed" (i.e. labrador retrievers).

Thus, you have albino BPs, piebalds, pastels, etc...but they're all ball pythons.

I've never heard the term "breed" used for species of reptiles. I've heard of dog breeds, horse breeds, goat breeds, cat breeds, but never breeds of reptiles...

And generally with the different dog breeds you get physical changes, such as coat color, size, conformation in general, etc... To get a "pure" breed you have to keep line breeding until all the offspring produced look identical. Although classified as the same species, I would personally classify different "breeds" of dogs similar to subspecies.

well a breed is a group of animals within a species such as a group of animals selectively breed to look a certain way, so if i had to say so then the "morph" can also be said to be the "breed" in this case.
