jags?
is the jag a morph? I've read a lot and there are lots of people who refer to it as a morph, but then others say its not... sooo.... which one is it. ?
new member, first post, il make sure to post a pic of my new coastal, abigale, soon :-)

Re: jags?
it is most definitely a morph... it's a cornerstone of the carpet morphs. kinda like the pastel or spider is to balls.

Re: jags?
As Colin said, yes it is definitely a morph. The jaguar mutation originated in the coastal carpet python, and has since been bred into just about every subspecies and type of carpet. It is a "co-dom" morph and breeding a jag to a normal results in half jags and half normals, or sibs (short for jaguar siblings). Two jaguars bred together produce a super jag, which is a leucistic carpet python. Unfortunately, no luecistics have made it past a few weeks of life. Some kind of lethal mutation involved. There are some beautiful jags out there.

Re: jags?
thanks for clearing that up...
I've always liked carpets but i just got my first a couple weeks ago. and come to find out all the addiction rumors are true:-) I love the jag pattern and im also a huge fan of stripes, I know petersonreptiles has striped coastals but doe anyone know of breeders that have tigers and other striped carpets. I knew a guy that had an awesome nearly solid striped jungle and I loved it, have yet to find another one though. thanks for the help:-)

Re: jags?
nick mutton and michael pennell have really nice, pure coastals with complete or partial striping. jason baylin has some of the best tigers out there... they're are tons of them out there.

Re: jags?
I've seen you at just about all the austin expos I've been to... the one just recently we were at your table for a while with cueball... my girlfriend was talking to you about getting an albino ball and you said we had to wait until it fed three times in a row. were still interested in that btw, so whenever that becomes available you've got a customer. :)

Re: jags?

i hope you have some baby boy albino balls at the austin show in december, mr. penn..
