I dunno but $450 for a normal snake who looks like a morph I've never heard of... Hard to pass up...

yea im not interseted in buying it. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about what this morph looks like or has any pictures or even if its a real morph. yea and 450 for something that may be normal is rediculous

That first female has a gorgeous head pattern though if I could afford it I would buy her be a nice dinker if not just a really nice looking normal.

i got one from mark haas as well it should be shipped this week mine is a female around 900 grams or so.
my ivory male will be meeting her as soon as shes ready :D
how about those odds. pretty much everything that get the spector side should be superstripes

That is pretty exciting stuff, you must be psyched. Another breeder that has been working with them for a while told me that the combos with the Specters are really cool looking in their one right. I am looking forward to putting my Male with a Pastel to see what hatches.

The second snake that he has listed there is over-priced, too. In my opinion, anyway. He's making it out to be some crazy, magical gene because it has a head spot and weird shading in its saddles. One of my normals has those same markings, and I would never try to pass him off as a morph or het or anything other than normal. Some people... :rolleyes:
This is why we need more of a regulated thing - not just word of mouth. There should be something like the "American Kennel Club" for snakes where we have to submit "breeds" (morphs) for inspection, and if everyone is in agreement then it becomes a recognized morph. Otherwise, it's just a normal. That would prevent people from pulling this kind of stuff. $400 for a normal, POSS het... Psh, give me a break.

i saw that thread and thought it was a yellow belly. ok so a whirlwind is a specter het for super stripe. thanks for all the info guys. i dont get why people have to try and change names of lines that are already established makes no sense to me but i guess thats just how it works.

This seems to be just like all of the "spider/pastel/mojave/ etc siblings!" "pastel like" "fire like". They aren't any of the morphs mentioned, but people out there try to pass them off like they are something special by including certain morphs name in the ad.
Then they draw your attention to small details that just about every normal out there has, and call it a marker!
It's all bogus, they are trying to sell a normal snake as something it's not by associating it's traits with a known morph. It's a huge gamble to take, and I bet most of those animals are just expensive normals.

Actually Albey, I don't think that Jared had a name or could even reliably identify the morph before Tony pointed out the traits to him. While Jared was the first to produce them, Tony had put a name to his line first. At least that's the story I got from Tony this past weekend.

450 for a poss. het is ridiculous i think. you can get so many guaranteed het pairs or a nice dom or co-dom pairs for the same amount or less. check out what i found searching for just 5 min. poss. het genetic stripe "whirlwind" for 25$ each. some people just try and get money however possible. mean :rage:

Hi Mark,
I am aware of all of that. When Anthony first started posting the name Whirlwind for the Het For Super Stripe and then Cyclone for the Super Stripe there was a very long thread about it on Kingsnake. The discussion between Anthony and Jared got pretty heated at times and I was surprised that it never got pulled but they left it up. A lot of breeders weighed in on the discussion with almost all of them siding with Jared on Specter for the Het, and Super Stripe for the Super Stripe. It appeared at that time even Anthony was going to call them that but shortly after he started referring to them as Whirlwinds again. As far as Anthony being able to distinguish the Specters from the Normals he has contacted Mark Haas more than once to help him determine if one was or not. LOL By the way I have nothing against Anthony and actually had a great conversation with him over the phone about Balls I just think that the first one to produce a project has the right to name it. What is the market on the Specters right now?? I've not seen any for sale..?? I was just wondering what a morph like that would be. I really like the SS, and would really like to get in on that morph..

Genetic stripes and whirlwinds are two different morphs. Genetic stripe is a recessive morph. The whirlwind makes the super stripe when combined with the yellow belly gene.

LOL, it's funny you should say that. I saw him this weekend at the IHS sale and I went over to talk to him and I also brought over a couple of babies that I had produced for him to look at. These were offspring from a male that I had posted on Ralph's forum last year where both Ralph and Jared told me that they thought that I would be able to produce super stripes with him some day, unfortunately I don't have any female yellow bellies so I bred him to a couple of normals to see if there was anything from his looks that would carry over. Tony looked them over and said that he was sure they were not whirlwind/specters and so we talked about that project for a bit. It was interesting to hear his views on the subject. He's a nice guy to talk to in person.

If you can find them for sale, you should expect to spend between 5-6 thousand for a pair -- with the male being a little more expensive. :)
