After drilling holes, humidity is still extremely high?
Has anyone else ever drilled like 10 holes in each side of their plastic tub and STILL had the Acu-Rite reading "HI %" ???

Should i just drill tons more?

What is the actual humidity? Because mine reads "HI %" for anything over 40%. You could also try moving the water bowl to the cool side - if you already did that... I'm guessing probably more holes.

It started at about 50% and gradually just kept getting higher...i'll try to move it to the cold side, its more towards the middle right now

If that doesnt work get a smaller water bowl. And put a fan in the room to circulate the air more.

Your first problem is being a Packers fan:P But let your cage air out for a bit before drilling more holes.. I too move my water bowls around to control my humidity.. I usually move it to the warmer side when I know they are about to shed and move it back after the shed is complete.

Ryan, try taking out the Accu-Rite, pull the batteries, replace them and then set the unit and it's probe near but not in the enclosure. Get a read on what it says the room is to check if it seems to be reading close to correct.

What substrate are you using? Are you sticking the Acu-Rite way down into the substrate or setting it on top of the substrate? How do you have the unit and it's probe set up?

I'm using newspaper as substrate. The Acu-Rite is above the substrate like attached to the side of the enclosure. The unit is on the cool side and i placed the sensor on the warm side under the hide...

I'd pull out the unit, pull the batteries and let it sit outside the enclosure until it drops to what you think is your room humidity. I'd air out the enclosure at the same time. Once you have a baseline idea of what the room is like that your enclosure is in and the Acu-Rite appears to be reading the room correctly, put it back in and see what happens.

How big is this enclosure and how many holes have you already put in it?

    its like 6"H x 15"W x 25 1/2"D and i put in like 14 holes on both sides

I have an Acurite that got messed up from a wet dart frog vivarium at some point and reads Hi %, even sitting out in a room with 30% humidity. You might need a new one.

Considering the humidity in the room is fairly high, I would drill more holes. I had to drill tons of holes in my girls tub to get it down to 60%.

I know for a fact that there is nothing wrong with my Acu-Rite and i have about 25 holes in each side of the tub and the humidity is still at 72%...i guess im gonna have to just keep doing more and more holes until it keeps gets in the mid 50's

    Hey Ryan,
I had the same problem and I also drilled holes, about an inch apart over the entire top of the tub. I was able to get my humidity down and I figured if I need to raise it back up I could just cover the holes with plastic. :gj:

Well WAS perfect...but i realized that when i dont have a fan on circulating the room and dont have my de-humidifier on the humidity skyrockets up to like 70%...i guess im gonna have to drill holes in the lid for the cage now too ugh :confuzd:
