BCI or BCC im so confused?

Ive been trying to figure it out but i dont see the trade mark patterns of either i gues i dont have a good eye for this. any help would be great :D if u could also tell me why its either or that would be super :gj:

Hmmmmmmm....I'm hardly a boa expert. I wouldn't even call myself a boa novice at this point. LOL But I'll hazard an opinion anyhow. Based on the colors, I would guess BCI....but based on the saddle shape, I would wonder if maybe he had a little BCC mixed into his heritage somewhere along the way.

Regardless though....gorgeous snake!

Looks like an abberant BCI to me but unfortunately unless you have details on where it's from or who bred it, no one can say for sure 100%.

Where was it acquired?

I got it from a local reptile store. I think they said they bred hatched them themselves. I didnt see the parents. i ask them today for more info. This particular snake has been bugging for days, ive been looking at everyone elses red tails and mine doesnt have a single pattern i resemblance. Thats why im so lost :) would pictures of certain angles or parts?

Sometimes babies are born with abberant patterns like yours. It's not uncommon, but it's not the normal pattern.

It looks like a really nice looking BCI to me. If you want to really find out, then you may want to try and go back to the pet store and ask to see the parents.

Well seeing as how the pet store told you they HATCHED the boa.....

The eye on the top photo looks funny to me. Maybe it's just the picture, but is there a stuck eye cap or mites?

I think the flash just dilated the pupil a heck of a lot, and you are seeing the tiny color of the eye.

I am no way a boa expert but I think the pattern reminds me of a BCI

The color looks BCI, but the saddle pattern is a little weird...sure is cute tho. =)

Did the pet store really say they "hatched" them, because boas give live birth. It just would show they are lying or don't know what they are talking about.

If you want to you can count scales but it is hard to do without a complete shed.

yeah he hasnt shed with me. And they said he was born there, im the one that wrote hatched for whatever reason :P

Don't worry it's a common misconception. No one can tell for certain just from pictures but I think we can all agree it is either BCI or
BCI X BCC. But I'm pretty sure it's just a nice patterned BCI.

There's a great phrase I like to say when someone asks if they boa is a BCC or BCI. "If you have to ask, it's a BCI". ;)

Without a doubt, BCI. Pure BCI? Who knows. Impossible to tell without knowing the parent's and their ancestry.

The difference between the two are as clear as night and day once you have looked at a whole bunch of photos of each ssp. Color, size, saddle counts being the more obvious differentiation. But one thing than many people often overlook is the morphological "look" between constrictor and imperator. Head shape (as well as size) and body shape are very much different between them. BCI tend to have a more roundish body where as BCC have a rectangular shape to them.

thanks for all your help everyone. Quick question whats with all his speckles? His tank mate at the reptile store was much darker had alot more spots and speckles did i choose the better of the two?

That's all a matter of personal opinion. Some poeple love speckles on the boas, others perfer a more clean version. As long as you are happy, then you made the right choice. :)

Nice bci bud! The face has the 'kind' look to him/her, very nice.
