    What happened here?
This year we bred our Cinnamon male to a Hypo female in hopes of producing a male Cinnamon Het Hypo, becasue I always thought the Hypo Cinnys were so cool looking, and would make for some awsome projects in the future. I started candling these eggs at day 40. Around day 45 I marked the eggs, with three of them being Cinnys and one being normal. This really got me excited about the clutch. One of the cinnys, I circled the "C" on the egg, because I knew for sure that it was a Cinny. So I knew I had at least one. Well, day 51 rolled around, and I couldn't take it any longer, sio I cut them.

The first egg I cut was marked "N", meaning normal. Sure enough, a Het Hypo in that egg. The next egg was marked as a Cinny, but not the special one. I cut it, and saw, WHAT, a Hypo in the egg. What just happened? The next egg I cut was marked Cinny, and after cutting, observed a nice looking Cinny in the egg. The last egg was the circled"C", which I knew for sure was a Cinny based on the blushing and pattern that I saw in the egg during candling. Low and Behold, that egg really contained a Hypo Cinnamon. Boy was I lucky. I was able to skip a complete generation on that project.

p.s. I am typing this on generator power, because when I tried to post earlier, we lost power from Hurricane Gustav. As a result of this clutch hatching when it did, we have since named the Hypo Cinnamon - Gustav.

Gustav ended up being a male, as did the Het Hypo and the Cinny Het. The Hypo is a female, which is nice, because she looks very different than any Butterscotches I have ever producd (the Hypo mom is a Butterscotch Hypo). Meet Gustav and his clutchmates.

Thanks for looking, and allowing me to share our excitement,

So your Cinnamon male that sired this clutch was actually a Cinnamon Het Hypo......nice!!! Gustav is gorgeous and will now make the list of things I must one day produce myself LOL.

Hope you, Monica and the kids stay safe and dry. Hugs to all of you.

Wow Tim, lucky things like that are always a great surprise!

Good luck with that storm, I hope you get through it safely and dry. I wish you the best.

Edit: Quick question on genetics. With the Hypo and Cinny gene, why do you have to have a het Hypo Cinny to make a Hypo Cinny? Why is it that the morphs don't affect each other directly through a Hypo x Cinny cross? (normally :P)

Thanks for all of the compliments and well wishes. So, far we have only lost power, but not cable yet.

Dave, yes, my original Cinnamon is obviously a Het Hypo, but we just learned that the lucky way.

Best of luck with the storm, prayers are with you. Where did you get the cinny? There should have been some indication it was het hypo, unless a cinny was bred to a het hypo, thinking it was a normal, and it was off of that. Breeder may not have know mom was het hypo. That would produce 50%PH's. Your cinny proved out!! Wish I could get that lucky.

Thanks Ed, BT and Jake. If it weren't for the wind and rain, I would walk out to the room and go look at him for the 100th time. I guess I'll have to leave him alone until the storm passes.

FatBoy. Thanks. I got my original from Sean at EbN. I already talked to Sean, and he even had to come look at the clutch while they were still in the egg, because he couldn't believe it. Mom was a Captive hatch, and Sean's original male came from BHB. So, either mom was a Het, or Brian sold Sean a Cinny Poss Het. Either way, I am stoked. It also makes all of the Cinny's that I have ever produced, poss Het Hypo. And, I have plenty of them produced this year.

I won't talk sales on a thread, but my site does have a couple up already. My original male did produce all of our Cinnys this year. I can say that we hatched many males, but only one female, and she is in a dispute between 2 good customers. So, we won't have any females for sale this year.

Thanks for the safe wishes Richard. As long as we have internet, we can still get e-mails. We have plenty of gas, so the generator will stay kicking for quite a while.

On a side note- What's with all these accidental recessives hatched lately? Breeders not marking hets/ poss hets? Or not realizing that they are hets?

Thanks for all of the compliments everyone. We made it through the storm just fine, and got power back last night. I still don't have any internet, but I am able to borrow some from Sean. So, we'll still be sparse around the internet for a while, but we are ok.

Gustav is doing fine, and we'll post some more pics of him once he sheds.

    Neil,
I thought of that already, and will probably breed the Hypo Mojave to one of my Cinny's daughters this year. So, with a little luck, we might get a Hypo Mojave Cinny.

Thanks again everyone, and thanks for the prayers.
