Guess I better get this out of the way

Hi all. My name is Shadera, I'm 33 and live in WV with my husband Shawn.

I've owned snakes before, but am just getting into hobby breeding. I'm not looking to get rich, and in all honesty I'll be thrilled to ever even get close to breaking even. Quality animals are much more important to me, along with the best customer service I can give. I'll never let this get to the point for me where I don't have time to get a picture of an available animal to a customer before asking them to put a deposit on it, or to answer their emails and phone calls as I have been getting lately. (long-winded rant for later, maybe..) I'm at home full time and am looking forward to all the excitement this hobby brings. I'm prepared for the disappointments, too.

I have several animals here already in quarantine, with several more that will be in soon and a few more I'm looking for. I'll be working with pastels, mojaves, albinos, cinnamon pastels, black pastels, lessers, spiders, clowns, pieds, and lavender albinos. And quite a few of the combos in between.

Not a lot else to say I guess, so I'll just quit blabbering now. I look forward to chatting with all of ya!

Welcome to bp.net. I can tell you have a lot of experiance with these animals. I hope to only be able to raise 3 or 4 ball pythons up to breeding age before I breed them.. which could take a couple of years.
We'll see how things go. :D

I hope to be posting some pictures soon. Today I'm gathering the last of the materials together to make myself a light tent. I think that's one of the things I love most about this hobby so far - all the making things and tinkering and creative thinking. I've built a couple racks with plans for more as soon as I can get to them, and am hot on the hunt for a nice old soda cooler or bait cooler to turn into an incubator. This all appeals to my redneck side, who loves duct tape and jerry rigs.

Most of the animals I have and will have are hets since some of those morphs I can't afford outright, but I think half the fun will be raising them up from babies before breeding. Then I guess I'll kind of feel like a grandma when those eggs pip. All I can say is, thank goodness for breeders who are kind enough to offer payment plans so folks like me can afford some awesome animals.

Nice to see you here BT! I can't wait to get my hands on that lesser from you, he's soooo hot! And anyone with that kinda love for the ol stars and bars is a friend o' mine. :salute:

I follow a pretty strict regimen for quarantine, pretty much the same I follow when I bring a new bird into my home. (Yeah, I'm crazy over parrots, too!) Before they go into my main racks and I release them from Q, they'll have a look-over plus at least a fecal from my herp vet, who's also my avian vet. I'm putting this guy's kids through college I think. :rofl:

I really love the way most of the BP community embraces newbies, taking the time to answer those questions no matter how many times they're asked and offering friendly and helpful advice. Now, if I could just find someone who wants to mentor me.. LOL Will work for snakes!
