Spraypaint Art
Ok so some months back WellyBelly (Noel) introduced me to whats called Spacescapes (youtube that phrase, its quite cool). I was hooked. So this was my first attempt at a "SPACESCAPE"
If you have ever been to Venice Beach here in Cali, then youve seen this stuff.....and its harder than it looks.
Dont be to harsh, remember this is my first time!

Re: Spraypaint Art
Nice first attempt, keep it up man. I first saw this kind of spraycan art in Mexico where an artist at my resort was doing them. It looked like he had moved on from spacescapes some time long ago, but he did have a few AWESOME ones. Here's a picture of one of the paintings I bought. It took him about 7 minutes to spray. I think it's an amazing technique, and it, along with banksy, inspired me to get back into spraycan art for things other than graffiti.

It's all an illusion. You just need a nice matte and a frame. :gj:

Re: Spraypaint Art
Sorry my camera died, and the second pic is from my phone.
I tried to use a more "circluar" color scheme here. Instead of being all over the place with color, everything was planned for this one.

Pat, that second attempt looks great! Both of them look better than the two I tried.

Re: Spraypaint Art
Pat you have great talent! Now, not being able to view youtube at the moment... what is the deal behind space scapes? Is it just spray paint art, or is there something more to it?

Very nice Pat! I had no idea you were an artist.
I've been to Venice Beach and was mesmerized by the guy making them. Of course we bought one for our daughter but I have no idea what she did with it.
Connie, the guy I watched do it used only layers and layers of spray paint and cardboard to block areas and make smudges. No brushes or fancy art tools. They take only a few minutes to produce but look like they took days.

Its just art. LOL! I just think that they look really crazy, and some of them are actually very very real looking.

Yeah, no art tools used. I used
1. Spraypaint
2. Magazine Pages
3. Paint can Cap
4. Planter bottom
The cap and planter bottom were used to get the perfect circular shapes, the magazine pages are what you use to take off layers of paint to give that "random" effect.
For instance on the second painting, the largest planet in the middle started with, in this order, black white yellow white red black. I then Lay the magazine pages (shiny ones) on top then press down in spots that i want more lifted, then remove the piece of paper. Put the cap down badda bing badda boom!
